I was intrigued and inspired by Richard Linklater âs film Waking Life in the sense that it represented an abstract and creative view of life after death being a certain kind of altered state of consciousness. The soul can be portrayed as a wandering person in a dream, and more specifically, the main character in Waking Life , Wiley Wiggins , as a wandering soul searching for answers to his never-ending dream. Waking Life also looks into themes of hypnosis or sleep-induced methods to achieve a mental state far deeper than most experience. I will therefore explore the nature of these ideas with the concept of the collective unconscious. I will associate how Waking Life conveys time and space as seamless through Wileyâs journey as a voyager of the collective unconscious with themes alluding to hypnosis, and how death is expressed as a continuation of life on a different level of consciousness (articles.directorym.com....-a870.html)

Waking Life âs exploration of varying mental states is similar to what can be achieved in hypnosis. âWe are intelligent beings- spiritual beings- living, eternal energies that always have been and always will be. We are a significant part of the total cosmic intelligence, and as such we have access to any of the information within that cosmic intelligence.â says clinical hypnotherapist William H. Hewitt. I am relating his interpretation of the meaning of the collective unconscious to what he calls cosmic intelligence, which is information in the form of energies and psychic forces. Waking Life portrays this concept symbolically via a Wileyâs journey through time and space, picking up on this âcosmic intelligenceâ in various different ways. Wiley was not present in the scene when Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are discussing the collective unconscious and how the crossword puzzle results increased by 20% once someone had completed it the day before, meaning that somehow the knowledge is âout thereâ, and people can psychically or unconsciously pick up on this informatio (articles.directorym.com....-a870.html)

When I mention âa different level of consciousnessâ, it brings thoughts to my mind about the concept of a certain kind of âlife after deathâ, that of reincarnation, a belief system that the film does not actually deal with. The reason I am pointing this out is to make a remark that life after death does not necessarily have to mean reincarnation. Thus, Waking Life deals with this notion as a continuation of âenergyâ after death, rather than physical life after death. Wiley does not get reincarnated as something else, he simply walks around from place to place, in a seamless way, through walls and streets, cutting through time, and bumps into people talking about things, and interestingly enough, they are talking about subjects that relate somehow to what he is experiencing (articles.directorym.com....-a870.html)

Because Waking Life is so abstract, it can be interpreted in many different ways. The ideas of subjective realities and quantum physics the film convey point out how there are in fact many unexplained phenomena that happens to us. One phenomena is how a population in one culture may see and interpret something differently than in another. For example, the Native Americans apparently did not see the ships coming in to their land because they had never seen anything like that before. Was it because their eyes are so used to seeing what they have been conditioned to see all their lives? Was it because when they looked out to the horizon, even though they might have sent he water parted but not the ships, they didnât pay attention to what they are not used to seeing? Or was it because they believed so strongly that nothing like that ever existed, and no invasion will ever happen? My interpretations could be right or wrong, again, it all depends on relativity. This brings me to conclude that just like time, space, energies, cosmic intelligence and death can vary in experience from one individual to another so much, that it might not make any sense when one person tries to explain a certain experience to anothe (articles.directorym.com....-a870.html)

Hypnosis has a foundation in enabling the mind to wander free. For once, free will is not only completely understood, but applied without any restrictions. No scientific laws apply in the roaming mind, the dream induced state that Wiley experiences. Waking Life is an exploration into the collective unconscious of the imagination, an interpretation of intelligent energies beyond physicality, and an appreciation for life itself- before and after death. 3. Waking Life (2001) This movie is incomparable to anything else. The entire film issequences of intense philosophical dialogues on dreams and reality. I found it disjointed and sometimes hard to follow, but overall fascinating. Adding to the dizzying dialogue, the film uses this strange animation technique where they film real people and added animation over this footage. The result is a strange combination where everything looks real but you know it57;s no (dreaminglife.org/)

After 6 months I started having sleeping problem waking up ever earlier. Then the digestive problems started, followed by mild depression (with pills). On the day I handed in my notice, I immediately slept better again and within a month my stomach problems had disappeared. (www.timesonline.co.uk....456531.ece)

Deep sleep allows the brain to go on a little vacation needed to restore the energy we expend during our waking hours. Blood flow decreases to the brain in this stage, and redirects itself towards the muscles, restoring physical energy. Research also shows that immune functions increase during deep sleep (www.helpguide.org....eeping.htm)

Begin to reconnect your emotional and intellectual selves by exposing yourself to creative environments or activities. Remember that your emotional self craves truth and beauty, so look for ways to express both. We are "given" a certain amount of time to live in this life. Every moment we are choosing. We are choosing. The cancer may or may not be a kind of choice, "ignorance of the law is no excuse". There are so many people around us, for example, choose to love us. We didn't manipulate them to make that choice, did we? Yet, many of us ask what we deserved to merit their love. What have we done, to deserve it? Now we have this new challenge, and IMO we can only now really show by our spiritual growth that we "deserve" their love. I hesitate to use this word "deserve" even though it comes quickly to my expression. However it is one aspect of our thinking. The truth is that many of those around us are like sleep-walkers or the dead compared to some of us in our more lucid moments of self understanding. This cancer is a way of waking us up, a kind of terrible blessing, that is terrible only because some of us were so spiritually dead before it happened. Would we become the same as we are now without it? How many, how many do you know who have the same spiritual insights into their own nature as many you meet with this disease (www.npr.org...._no_a.html)

They did not, and it would hardly have mattered if they had tried. The nations of the world are bound internally and externally by rules of behavior that keep folks from doing each other in with every waking day. It has ever been thus, under whatever system of government52;with, of course, some notable exceptions, as Carl von Clausewitz will tell you (blogs.britannica.com....gory/life/)

I cannot believe this- celebrity gossip is supposed to be lvish juicy details about living the "good life". as a kind of dream escape for us normal folk when things get rough- it SHOULD NOT be what x17online has obviously made of britney! Anyone who has been on this earth for the past 10 years knows this woman is hard working and drive- as we saw her soar to the top as just a young teen. How in the world can this be the same person? Because she has been drugged and betraying and it is really sad,and x17- If i were you, i'd get the hell away from Sam or any other pap jerk close to britney because if you don't, we'll be watching you get served papers too! I trust her parents! She wanted her space and we havent seen them around her in years! How can you blame them when Sam is with her every waking minute of the day! Elliot: You know the Idol season has gotten into your blood a little too much when you wake up dreaming about the finalists. When Taylor and Katharine are in your sleeping and waking moments, it's gone too far. I can't believe it's the weekend already. Yesterday completely disappeared. I woke up about an hour later than usual and it was like the whole day was lost, what is that. Last weekend Andy Paulson and I spent every waking moment in various coffee shops around Portland going over every line of the book proofs together (and let me just say for the record the man can now add Technical Editor to his illustrious list of titles because he. is. awesomeness itself. Thank you thank you thank you!). (And also forgot to say that I was giggling at how many people mentioned Chicago [that's editor-slang for the book, not the city] on the table, which if the flip-book of last week were accurate would also have a picture of me picking that thing up 46,000 times, trying to remember anything about how to edit page proofs properly.) I came home to find an opportunity to get Amy's papercutting patterns in pdf format and yeah, I couldn't press that download button fast enough. The perfect antidote to the millions of fractions and their metric conversions lurching about in my poor little pea-brain? Just as you would schedule an appointment with a client, it's essential to set aside time for your family. When you work in an office you are, in essence, already doing this. You "schedule" in your family for the waking hours of the day that you are not at work. The same holds true when your business is run from home (allbusiness.sfgate.com....317-1.html)

    2. Always move toward pleasurable experiences in your dreams. If you find yourself flying in a dream, relax and let yourself float on the wind . If you are attracted sexually to an individual in a dream who in the waking world would be a taboo for you (your wife's mother, etc.) let yourself enjoy the experience rather than dwelling on the negative aspects of the situation. The Maldives are notoriously the most beautiful place in the world to be boredwitless, but there are signs they’re finally waking up. Last year, the Wresort opened, promising an Ibiza-style party vibe, and now the previouslysleepy Huvafen Fushi is launching a counterattack, with an April 1 visitfrom superstar DJ José Padilla (the Café del Mar man) and live gigs later inthe year from the likes of Groove Armada. Rumours of an Arctic MonkeysIndian Ocean tour are hotly denied (travel.timesonline.co.uk....416207.ece)

In the last two weeks, I have worked almost continuously, and certainly every waking moment. When we haven57;t been able to perform measurements, I have scrambled to understand the data from the last set and to plan to make our limited time windows as efficient as possible. Over the last week or so I57;ve switched from day to night shift almost every other day. I counted three days that I worked 20 hour shifts. One of these 20 hour shifts ended just hours before the formal celebration of Thanksgiving, which is celebrated on a Saturday here. I slept for a few hours, then woke up and put on a dress and nice shoes and wandered in to a spectacular candle-lit dinner that I was in no state to appreciate. In the midst of the relaxed and celebratory crowd, I felt out of place and longed for a chance to sleep and feel normal again (icestories.exploratorium.edu....e-station/)

Will Okun has taught English and photography for eight years at Westside Alternative High School in the Austin community of Chicago . He is also the sponsor of the weightlifting club and, at 5' 5" (in boots), claims to still be the best basketball player in the school (unconfirmed). Will spends the rest of his waking hours operating wjzo.com , a Web site that features his portraits of high school students and documentary photographs of the West Side communities of Chicago . There are so many TV series released in DVD sets that, unless you devote a good part of your waking hours to it, it's nearly impossible to keep up with what's out, what's coming out and what still hasn't been put out on DVD. This is especially true in the next month or so as studios time their most anticipated releases to the holiday calendar (www.pastdeadline.com....lled_life/)

Alice's blue and white costume, as Lewis Carroll knew all too well, is suggestive of the compromised innocence of the Virgin Mary. In Gaskell's photographs, in which young women are dressed as prepubescent girls, the sexuality of the sign is sublimated into the surroundings. This perhaps explains the acute light of Gaskell's pictures , a light that nearly cuts at the space and offers the prospect of unearthly security - a kind of heaven . That is, Gaskell's Alices exist in a virtual place, a field beyond the looking glass, where reality is superimposed upon a template of fantasy and conforms to it, creating the illusion of a crystal clear world where dreams are our waking lives. This is a delightful but ultimately dangerous state of being (the bubble will burst). (rigint.blogspot.com....-life.html)

Once I read a letter from a woman with some disabilities that were affecting her every waking moment. She was writing in a newspaper from Combermere House in Canada. She was so closely associated with the part of her body that wasn't doing what she wanted it to that she had to find a way out of constant misery . Through prayer she began to feel and see that her body was like a pottery mug with a big crack in it. The crack represented, for her, her painful disability. She saw that she was the mug, perfect and wonderous still. For so long, had she been associating with the flawed and painful part of herself that she needed to meditate on the facts: "I am NOT the crack, that is only part of me. I am the mug, an open vessel, pure and perfect . I am NOT THE CRACK." It seemed so simple when I read it. At that time I was agoraphobic. One day, immersed in being agoraphobic, suffering greatly and feeling very stupid and depressed because I was afraid to do all the things in the world other people did so very easily, like go shopping for a loaf of bread or drive a car to town and get my hair cut, one day that woman's discovery hit me on the hea (www.npr.org...._life.html)

Instructables has a highly detailed guide to taking apart a MacBook to get started, while Popular Science shows an alternate scheme using an old ThinkPad . To keep your spare laptop from becoming a power draw (or running long and hot), consider setting up timers to run your "frame" only during your waking hours. Make it fly again with lightweight Linux If you're shelfing your trusty road warrior mostly because it just runs . so . slow, consider that it's not always the laptop's fault. Most modern operating systems aren't designed to give you only the web, email, document handling, and a little multimedia, but there is an entire OS realm that is that can make your old system seem new again. Here are a few free, open-source recommendations and what an old laptop might get out of them: (lifehacker.com....e-projects)

Some of the signs of sleep deprivation include difficulty waking up in the morning, lack of concentration, falling asleep during work or class, and feelings of moodiness, irritability, depression, or anxiety. Experts say that if you are falling asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow; need an alarm clock to wake up; or feel the need for frequent naps during the day, it is very likely you are sleep deprived (www.helpguide.org....eeping.htm)

My thoughts about what I had done to them Ive been thinking about the crime, my case, and the victims a lot. I didnt realize my situation until I was about 24 or 25 years old. In this case, the definition of addiction seems to have a lower threshold for damaging one's life than other, more popular roads to ruination.
