Regarding that last item, the main thing I'd like, as a fan, is for original stories in alternative media to be cannon, but not necessary for full enjoyment of the basic story. It's a fine line, but worth it if you can manage it (io9.com....-husbandry)

@ CaptainValiant I think LIZFU is refering to the fan based HP encyclopedia that she wanted to block.(and I think she did, didn't she?), but she initially welcomed the fan work as it helped fuel her rise to literary/economic success (io9.com....-husbandry)

Farina's dream season will go to another very lucky fan next year. Those interested in this extraordinary tour of the NASCAR circuit in 2008 can try to win their very own Prilosec OTC Victory of a Lifetime by registering at www.prilosecotc.co (www.nascar.com.....lifetime/)

Almost 3,000 proud Steelers fans belong to this informal organization, one of the largest Steelers fan groups in the country. They cheer on the Steelers each week at 5 different Baltimore area bars that cater to Steelers fan (pittsburgh.about.com....ountry.htm)

IF YOU A WOMEN BOSTON FAN THEN YOU ARE A SLUT AND YOU CAN KISS MY ASS-BUT IF YOU YOU ARE A YANKEE FAN AND A WOMEN THEN YOU ARE THE BEST ACTOR IN THE WORL (winningtheturnoverbattle.blogspot.com....s-sox.html)

Also, i don't really think giselle is a red sox "fan." she lives in NEW YORK , i bet the red sox just wanted her to throw out the first pitch so they decked her out in red sox gear. (winningtheturnoverbattle.blogspot.com....s-sox.html)

allysa milano was originaly a METS! fan because her father was a yankee! fan and took her to yankee games as a kid then she moved to LA and became a shitty Dodger fan! (a team originally from new york , like the Giants (winningtheturnoverbattle.blogspot.com....s-sox.html)

Jessica Biel is a Red Sox fan as well. She went to Tufts. She talked about it on Regis and Kelly the other day. She'd totally be starting ahead of Brinkley or Poehle (winningtheturnoverbattle.blogspot.com....s-sox.html)

Where was Gay-Rod's tranny stripper in the Yankee lineup? BTW, any fan that has Johnny Damon as they're team's CF is not allowed to comment about the weakness of another's (winningtheturnoverbattle.blogspot.com....s-sox.html)

Is Jennifer Garner actually a sox fan, or did her dipshit boyfriend (or is it husband now) just buy her a bunch of sox clothes. And Amy Poehler ? She's not even in the top 20 best looking SNL girls of all time, which is pretty sa (winningtheturnoverbattle.blogspot.com....s-sox.html)

Fair enough . But in return, I argue that making an active choice about my fandom - even pushing 30, in what some would describe as a "mid-fan-life-crisis" - wasn't just acceptable, but arguably superior to the more traditional, passive roots of sports allegiance (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

I meant to make the first comment and just say: This is really supposed to be the start of a conversation about what it means to be a "real" fan - if it's even possible to define that (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

For the record, I'm a lifelong Yankees fan because of Mattingly, a Penguins fan because of Lemieux, a Giants fan because of LT and a Liverpool fan because of Robbie Fowler and a BC fan because I'm an alum. You didn't mention what's so wrong about liking teams because of a particular player though, so please inform me why my mode of fandom is so inferior to yours. (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

jhawk, doesn't your fandom to Kansas all these years make this year so much better for you. If you were a fairweather fan, it's expected winning or stop caring (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

Good thing your wife is a fan of a winning team. Would you feel the same way if her team/ family/ culture was a marginally successful or worse team like Mississippi State? It's easy to pick a winner and justify it. It's a lot harder to come to terms with immersion in a losing culture (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

(Sometimes, there's even a third, if you end up living/working in a college town that isn't competitive with either of your first two college fan allegiances. (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

so whats the rule about growing up a fan of one team in the AL, moving to a city that only has an NL team? can you root for that NL team until they play your AL team in the World Series. (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

That's the whole point. You don't choose to be a fan of a team. You hope that, say, your stocks do well. Do you "root" for them? Do you attend the corresponding big corporate events? Do you have lucky company-store apparel that you wear for the day of a big announcement? (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

I think there is not problem adopting your local NL team if your hometown team was an AL team. I have always been a Yankee fan. However as I got older, instead of hating the Mets, I actually cheer them on unless they are playing the Yanks (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

I have a cheering scenario for everyone: which is stronger , alliance to a conference or hatred of a rival? I grew up in Texas so the nearest rivalry growing up was A&M and UT. If I am an A&M fan, and UT makes the championship game, do I cheer for the Big 12 team, or cheer for the opponent to spite my hated rival (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

(She didn't put it like that, but that was the gist of the discussion. To be honest, I didn't argue, because she's right. I could appreciate the win as a fan in the moment, but I couldn't possibly understand what it meant to someone who had been a fan for 30+ years.) (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

So I think that most Florida fans probably think: "Well, of COURSE he's a fan. Who wouldn't want to be?" It's that kind of combo of regional genteel and utter arrogance that makes them who they are. And I say that with love and respect, obviously (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

what about blog fandom.i mean my father was a fan of your writing back when you were young, and he made me read it. Then I grew up and realized.hey, i'm smarter than this guy.but he writes good childrens books.so i moved on and became a fan of another writer (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

I'm a huge Red Sox fan and I credit that largely to my absolute hatred of the Yankees, my dad's favorite team. On top of everyone here loving the Red Sox, the Yankees hatred really captured my black heart. (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

3) Lived through what was, for me, the most exciting fan experience of my life (2000's team that was co-Big 10 champions, and played in the 54-51 game v. Michigan (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

The beauty of college fandom (as opposed to other sports) is that you can, to a certain degree, have multiple rooting interests. You would be perfectly appropriate calling yourself an NU and UF fan, because you have ties to both schools. I consider myself a NU and UVA fan because after NU I went to UVA for grad school (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

I've always been an Ohio State fan and didn't go there. I went to D3 Mount Union and never really followed them that much simply because their football team was too good and not worth watching. (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

If you&re not a natural Pats or Giants fan, would you rather see the Patriots win the Super Bowl and go 19-0 or lose the Super Bowl and suffer epic defeat (www.danshanoff.com....story.html)

The "others" roofer was right. You don't want ridge vents AND the attic fan. It's one or the other, for best ventilation. Assuming that your attic area is all connected, your powered attic fan is better. If you have cathedral style ceilings it's another story (en.allexperts.com....Vent-1.htm)

Danny If we are talking about a motorized fan, mounted to the roof, then the ridgevents are fine as long as you have soffit vents that are clear. If you are talking about a wholehouse fan mounted in the ceiling of, say, a hallway, ridgevents still ok. You should have minimum R38 insulation in your attic (about 12 inches thick). (en.allexperts.com....EASE-1.htm)

I agree with most of that list. But lets make this simple as with any sport if your actions are detrimental to the sport or its reputation in any way, your not a fan but a liability, and no sport or organization needs tha (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

Hey Likedale3, this was about what makes a good race fan. Why did you feel the need to twist it into a crying fest about HMS? Have mommy wipe your nose, and maybe you can add something pertinent to the conversation (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

I agree with your list, but I believe nobody minds it when a driver they dont like tears up his car.I dont want anyone to get hurt, but I dont think that makes me less of a fan.My first race was Daytona 79.That race makes all the top 10 lists,Guess why (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

Smoke62-Exactly We are fans in our own way by choice the way we want to be, and not what others think how it should be. So that blows the theory of a real race fan out of the water doesn57;t it? (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

Hey Brandon, maybe that says you57;re a real Nascar fan because you can form your own opinions. I agree about the part concerning if they are afraid of wrecking but disagree about the road courses (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

Also, I said that a real fan appreciates other forms of motorsports. You don57;t have to love F1 to appreciate that those guys are very good at what they do. I don57;t like watching F1 because the racing isn57;t that good. But I understand that those guys are exceptional and there is a place for them in motorsport (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

It only makes sence if you watch something then you are a fan, and you don57;t watch it your not. Myself I don57;t like football , and I don57;t watch it. (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

Not saying everyone has to like every driver but I personally don57;t feel very proud of being a NASCAR fan when so many other fans out there take advantage of the opportunity to voice their dislike of a driver in a loud obnoxious manner. Just don57;t support them70;we don57;t have to boo them. (nascar.about.com....-fan-2.htm)

Man, oh man, I think I speak for every Pacer Fan reading. What an exciting team to watch and enjoy. Love the way the team is responding this year! I pesonally have missed watching the team excel this way for a long, long time. Thank you, Coach O'Brien (www.nba.com....og_v2.html)

I agree with Paul in Medford, Ore. I'm not a huge Mike Dunleavy fan, and if we give the Pacers a chance then they can show us that hopefully under Jim O'Brien they will have a better and faster offense (www.nba.com....og_v2.html)

I would love to see Reggie shooting 3s again. I don't care if he is gonna play for the Celtics, Mavs or any other team. A real Miller fan should encourage his comeback. We love this guy no matter what! (www.nba.com....og_v2.html)

I am a Jermaine O'Neal fan and I hope he comes with a better season than ever if he's with the Pacers, but I think he's playing the wrong sport: If he can backpedal like that, he should be playing defensive back in the NFL. (www.nba.com....og_v2.html)

In a model with non-powered vents, less air goes out the ridge vents. In a laboratory setting, with non-powered vents added, this is true. Their laboratory model doesn't include a powered fan (en.allexperts.com....EASE-4.htm)

I've been inside hundreds of attics over the years. Not laboratory settings, but real world attics. There's no question that if I were locked in an attic for a week, I would want both the fan and the ridge vents. Your guy would say the same thing if he has been in hundreds of attics and if he were being completely straightforwar (en.allexperts.com....EASE-4.htm)

The contractor who mentioned humidity and condensation is correct, although with a powered fan, that shouldn't be a significant difference. Especially if the fan is hooked up to a humidistat. I'm not sure if "humidistat" is the right word, but I understand the device he's refering to (en.allexperts.com....EASE-4.htm)

Move over Virgin Mary Toast , there57;s a new inspirational image in town. And this time it57;s a Virginia Tech fan. Well, sort of. Babe is a calf living in Virginia, and she seems to have all the markings of a Hokie fan (lioninoil.blogspot.com....arked.html)
