Slip and fall refers to the injury that occurs after a dangerous or hazardous condition causes a person to slip, trip or fall while on someone else's property. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 303,800 workplace fall injuries in 2000, and the Department of Labor said 15 percent of incidental workplace deaths are caused by slips, trips and falls. Incidents also occur outdoors and in businesses and residences. Slip and fall dangers include spilled liquid on a supermarket floor, inadequate lighting in a parking lot, loose stair railings and snow. Property owners may be to blame if they knew or should have known about a hazard like a hole in the ground that was hidden by grass. (slip-fall.legalview.com/)
I know, I know. Fall doesn't officially arrive until the autumnal equinox on September 23, but Miami and Pittsburgh face off tonight in the first NFL game of the season, and that's evidence enough for me that the summer of '06 is histor (fall.about.com....-today.htm)
If you are looking for a fall bargain cruise, and you only have a week or less to be on vacation, the Caribbean is your best bet. Although any time is a good time to cruise, this fall could turn into a great buyers' market. Cruise lines of all types and all price ranges have been advertising fall bargains for the past few months. (fall.about.com....ises_2.htm)
There are several factors contributing to these discounts. The first two are business-related and have helped to keep cruise prices low year-round. The first cause is simple-more berths than passengers. Several cruise lines are adding new ships this year and next. Several cruise lines will have new ships in the Caribbean this fall (fall.about.com....ises_2.htm)
As the present series of articles on types of fall foliage trees demonstrates, landscaping enthusiasts have many options for achieving colorful fall foliage in their yards. Yet perhaps no other types of trees in eastern North America are as intimately associated with fall as are maple trees. Below are some of the best types of maple trees from which you may choose for your fall foliage design (fall.about.com....liage7.htm)
Texas A M reports that the Bigtooth maple is one of the most attractive and interesting Texas trees and that the mature trees have beautiful red and yellow fall color (fall.about.com....pots_9.htm)

I woke up to a contraction at 7am, followed by my waters breaking immediately. After things moving pretty quickly we decided to go to the hospital and got there at 9.30am. I had Lily less than 3 hours later with no pain relief (!). So from beginning to end took 5 hours in total (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
Thank you so much to all of you for all the support in the last nine months I have appreciated every word of it. And thank you for all your support yesterday and for those of you that suggested it it didn't feel like a virtual labour (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
But the waiting is almost over. I go in on Friday to be induced. Which I am not happy about. Because I do not want to be induced. Unfortunately I don't have a choice because in the last week my Obstetric Cholistasis has finally reared it's head and for M-P2's safety she needs to be out asap. (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
My work days seem to consist of sitting at the sewing machine for a couple of hours without actually doing anything and then going back to bed for a lie down (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
After the hospital we dropped Bella off with some very generous and very much appreciated friends and I came home and did my best to get M-P2's room finished. After all, she's going to be here soon. Isn't she (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
But in the meantime I've really tried to make it work as well as I can. There's still a little more to do, but I'm pretty darn pleased with what I've managed so far (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
It still needs some extra storage (I'm thinking about this and I really want to hang full length muslin curtains to further separate it from the rest of the room and of course there's the labels for the drawer (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
Well M-P2 certainly was kind enough to let us enjoy Bella's party (Bella had a great time!) but almost as soon as it was over Jim and I packed our bags and headed off to the hospital (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
We were under the very misguided opinion that those pains that I had across my abdomen that were making me cry every five minutes would soon be leading to the final member of the family finally joining us (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
However, as I said, we were misguided. Very misguided. Because although I did spend the weekend in hospital, and I was in absolute agony, and I did get some very nice drugs, I did not , let me repeat, did not come home with a beautiful new baby (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
Because I had been ill all weekend I hadn't been able to get out to get the bits and pieces that I wanted to decorate the house for her. So the night before I pulled out some vintage linens and tea sets, plus the bunting that I made for her first birthday and decorated for a pink tea party (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
I also managed to make some chocolate cupcakes for her instead of a birthday cake (she's still unsure about the whole cake situation after not being able to eat it before (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
When she came downstairs she was so shocked that she didn't want to go into the kitchen at first and just sat on the stairs (she's so much fun to decorate for). (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
After opening her presents and dancing around the kitchen (her, not me!), we spent the rest of the day playing with new toys and eating junk (me, not her). (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
On another lovely note, I've been the very proud recipient of a number of 'You Make My Day' Awards recently, but have been horribly slack in thanking the very kind people that have given it to me (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
(sorry to disappoint those of you that have been wondering if I'm off expanding the family. Unfortunately I'm not, I've just been ill and busy. Isn't that dull? (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
When I gave birth to Bella it was under stressful circumstances and we came horribly close to losing her in the last five minutes before she entered our world (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
Almost straight after her birth she was taken away and I didn't see her again for 2 hours. And I didn't ask for her. It didn't occur to me to. I knew that she was safe, because the midwife had said she was fine. But I didn't ask anymore than that. (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
The midwife shouted at me that I had put my premature baby at risk by not feeding her on time. She shouted so much that I started crying. I didn't know what was happening, I couldn't remember anything from the day before and I didn't even recognise Bella (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
And then, at some indistinguishable point we happened. We became Mummy and Bella (or Manda and Beya, as she says). And I realised just who I was. And that that was the best thing I could ever hope for. How could I ever beat being Bella's mum (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
Every time we leave the house we have major 'discussions' about exactly what she can and can not take with her. We have to negotiate how many dolls, how many bags, whether her shopping trolley (!) or babies buggy can come (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
And then there's the negotiation of what can come with us but has to stay in the car . Of what can go in to nursery with her (one Pony). What can come in to the shops with her (only one bag or one doll, not both! (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
And I love that. I love the fact that she is already sure of what she needs to feel good . And that she has commitments, whether it's to one of her babies or her new bag that would be upset if it was left behind (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
And can I just put a request in to whoever thinks they're controlling all of this? It's Bella's birthday on Tuesday, so please no baby that day. And it's her birthday party on Saturday, so ditto. Ok (treefalldesign.....tree_fall/)
It still needs some extra storage (I'm thinking about this and I really want to hang full length muslin curtains to further separate it from the rest of the room and of course there's the labels for the drawers. (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
Manda, the sneak peak was fun. You did such a great job,it&s feminine yet modern. Not cutesy which is a good thing. So glad to hear that all is well with the baby :) We all can&t wait to see how beautiful she i (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
I am glad that you are well! I can&t believe that baby will be with you soon! I just left my friend&s house her first baby is due in 11 days she&s looking great! I love the nursery corner (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
It&s beautiful. I remember with my first, I was working full time until I delivered (he came early!) and not only was I not prepared, but the nursery wasn&t either (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
I have been peeking in on you a few times a day.lol.as if your going to stop and say.heading to have the baby now! You have a ton of people all around the world sending good thoughts your way (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
It&s looking gorgeous Manda.I love the curtains over the drawer units.I&m thinking of getting that IKEA unit in red for the playroom.I&m fed up of having to move all my vintage suitcases to get to the bottom one (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
I think the nursery is just perfect , Manda. I think its good that you don&t have to go down the stairs when she wakes at night. Of course, she&ll sleep through the night right away; what was I thinking (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
You&re due the same day as we are due (with our first). The waiting is so hard.but let&s hope you make it to the weekend (to full-term, 37 weeks, right? (treefalldesign.typepad.com....neaky.html)
Thanks to everyone for all of Bella's birthday good wishes! After weeks of being being pretty pissed about how my family and the in-laws were dealing with Bella's birthday it actually turned out to be a really good day (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
We just had close family and a close friend (who has been travelling since I was 4 months pregnant so this was the first time he'd met Bella) plus lots of food and pink champagne! Bella got lots of presents and really enjoyed herself. (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
I have to admit that I'm really very happy with how the quilt's turned out. And I'm really glad that I didn't add sashing, I think it would have spoilt it. (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
I also managed to make a good few meters of bunting and used the templates in this months MSL to make a birthday banner. As well as having red and cream balloons and hanging up the first outfits Bella ever wore. (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
and wow. your decorations are awesome and that quilt is AMAZING! I love it! The red and whites are beautiful and that backing is incredible. such a lucky little girl (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
How did you do all that in such a short time? That quilt is AMAZING! The decorations are precious. I love the idea of hanging her little clothes. Her little red and white clothes! (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
Whoa.I&m so impressed! That quilt is amazing. I have always wanted to make one of those banners too.very cute. And hanging up her first outfits?! What a totally sweet idea! I agree, no sashing. It is so very striking just the way it is (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
HOw lovely. I&m glasd it was a special day! Love the things you did! Am gonna try the bunting for my sons birthday. I like the oidea of both my children have their own set (treefalldesign.typepad.com....party.html)
Simultaneously the longest and shortest 12 months of my life . It's been an exhausting ride. But 12 months on, here we are, probably (hopefully) stronger than before, with an even scarier year ahead of us. Are we ready? Not even close. Are we looking forward to it? Yes. We. Are (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
Unfortunately we weren't able to get together with the cousins this year and with the way that Christmas day fell, friends have been away and nursery is closed, so Bella has been stuck with just Mummy and Daddy for company for a week now (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
The top book in the pile was a special treat. It's a biography of the wonderfully talented and eccentric wallpaper designer Florence Broadhurst. And it's a book that I've been wanting for a long time, but just haven't been able to justify buying because it's a little costly. Fortunately Santa doesn't care diddly squat for cost (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
News on the Jim front is that his Bells Palsy is much, much better and he's going back to work on Monday. His face is still a bit lopsided, but he's almost back to his handsome self. Phew! (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
I always feel a little funny giving handmade gifts to friends and family . I never know if it's going to be received with gratitude for the time, thought and effort that goes in to making something yourself, or if it's just going to be seen as a cheap present to give (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
So when it comes to Christmas I get a little nervous about handing out the gifts and this year was no exception. Actually this year was worse because I made more gifts that I usually do. (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
And I'm relieved to say that this was one of the gifts that was appreciated. Oh and the other gift we gave her is our old laptop, so she's about to start surfing online, which I think is very cool indeed for a woman in her 80's (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
mentioned the fact that she never got a pin cushion of her own and if I recall correctly, you lot agreed that it was shocking that my own mother couldn't get hold of one. So I finally decided to rectify thi (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
Well I wasn't sure that I could come up with a dinosaur in time, but last week, when I couldn't sleep at all and ended up being awake the entire night, I decided that a crocodile would be fun to have a go a (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
I started off by looking for an existing pattern, but just couldn't find anything that I liked. The pattern in Toys To Sew came the closest but it was 2 dimensional, too big and the legs weren't right because they just hang underneath the croc (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
So I decided to just make it up as I went along. It's obviously a pretty straight forward shape, and even with the gusset, you're still only looking at three pieces for the body , so I was feeling confident (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
My new found understanding (overstatement of dress patterns has already had an impact on my general sewing and in particular how I cut the pattern pieces, so things came together really quickly and much more accurately than normal (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
As I mentioned, the request was specifically for a closed mouth crocodile , so I kept the stitching simple for the mouth, with just a hint of a smile. I really didn't want it to be threatening in any way and think that the fact that he looks quite cartoony is a good thing (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
I'm also pleased that I kept him simple with my choice of fabric. Because it was 5 in the morning when I started putting him together, I really didn't want to be faffing about with patchwork and instead opted for one of my favourite Amy Butler prints which I think works perfectly for a crocodile (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
And I'm really pleased to say that the croc's recipient was very pleased with him and wouldn't let anyone else even look at him on Christmas day. Which in my toddler led world is pretty high praise indeed (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
The whole thing was completed in the space of a few hours and was really fun to do. I don't often do any thing representational these days and I've forgotten how much fun it i (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
I knew that I didn't want this stocking to be too pink, because of course, there may come a time when pink loses it's magic for Bella. And I knew that I wanted it to look like it had always been there, in the family. But that was pretty much it on the ideas front (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
When I received the latest copy of Marie Claire Idee's I knew that I wanted to include a little bit of red work in the design but was still lost about where to actually go with it all (treefalldesign.typepad.com....l/2007/12/)
