Pepper, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and more). In 1971, he met Bette Midler , who hired him as her pianist, arranger, and musical director; he served as her accompanist on her legendary pre-fame tour of New York City's gay bathhouses, masterminded her first two albums (1972's The Divine Miss M and its self-titled follow-up), and debuted some of his original material at her Carnegie Hall show in the summer of 1972. Thanks to his gig with Midler, Manilow was able to land a record deal of his own with the fledgling Bell label, and his debut album, Barry Manilow I, was released in 1973. It didn't sell very well, and when Bell became Arista, label head Clive Davis asked Manilow to record a pop tune called "Brandy ," which had been a U.K. hit for its co-writer, Scott English. Manilow changed the song into a ballad and changed the title to "Mandy" (to avoid confusion with the Looking Glass hit "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)"); released on 1974's Barry Manilow II, "Mandy" became a number one hit early the next year (www.mp3.com....w/summary/)
Barry Manilow was born Barry Alan Pincus on June 17, 1946, in Brooklyn, and grew up in its low-income Williamsburg section. His father left the family when Barry was two, and he eventually adopted his mother\'s maiden name of Manilow. He began playing piano and accordion at age seven, and following high school, he was accepted to the prestigious Juilliard School of Music, which he paid for by working in the CBS mail room. From there, he became musical director of the CBS show Callback, and supported himself for the next few years by writing, producing, and performing advertising jingles (including high-profile campaigns for State Farm, Dr. Pepper, McDonald\'s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and more). It could be a home run for Barry Pepper , who played New York Yankee ballplayer Roger Maris in HBO's "61*," if he gets the nod in the TV actor in a miniseries or telefilm category. - (www.hollywoodreporter.com....s/2002.jsp)
Barry Pepper 25th Hour plays Matty, the young man whose father, BennyChains (Dennis Hopper ), is an important figure in a Brooklyn crime family. John Malcovich plays Uncle Teddy his father's top man. Matty wants tobecome a sports agent, but everywhere he turns in New York , people areafraid of him because of who his father is. (www.imdb.com/title/tt0211465/)
Well-acted. Barry Pepper , Vin Diesel , Tom Noonan, and John Malcovich allshine in their roles. The pathos of whether to follow in his father'sfootsteps isn't as interesting as how the characters try to get the moneyback, but the film is still pretty good. (www.imdb.com/title/tt0211465/)

[laughter] John: Let me let Bob start. So, Bob why don't you start and then I'll let Vint respond. Bob Pepper: So, actually, yesterday Barry gave me a great intro. He said, Where are you going to find ANYBODY who is against net neutrality? Well, part of the problem is that it is not a well-defined term. I used to come to meetings like this - PC forum and Vortex and your sessions - and I always had a guaranteed laugh line when I came from the FCC. I'd stand up and I'd say Hi, I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you. (www.oreillynet.com....ality.html)
Eastwood still proves to be a great director for actors. He takes outgreat performances of the cast, with three in particular. Adam Beach ,perfect as Ira Hayes. Barry Pepper , magnificent as another flag-raiser,Michael Strank, which was a leader for his men. And Robert Patrick , asthe Colonel Chandler. There are still thousands of roles in the movie, and they all deserve some praise. (us.imdb.com/title/tt0418689/)

A prizewinner at Cannes, this drama was directed by and stars Tommy Lee Jones . The screenplay was written by Guillermo Arriaga Amores perros , 21 Grams ). Pete Perkins (Jones) is a Texas ranch foreman who hires illegal immigrant Melquiades Estrada. Then there's an incident where Mike Norton (Barry Pepper ), who works for the Border Patrol, kills Estrada. After Estrada is buried twice in Texas, Perkins forces Norton to accompany him on a journey to return Estrada to his native village in Mexico for burial. (homevideo.about.com....006a_3.htm)
Neil Innes (Nasty) has a great ear for parody. This album kicks off with "Sgt. Pepper" take-offs in which Barry doesn't need any help from his friends, and moves on to mock the White Album and solo Beatles so accurately it'll make your head spin cause the lyrics are so earnestly-silly. OK, so Billy Crystal is a spoiled little Yankee fan who, in Ken Burns ' " Baseball ," laments the Yankees' 1960 World Series loss with The Whine Heard 'Round the World: "I still hurt about it. I still feel bad about it." Billy, you grew up watching the most dominating team in sports history - 14 pennants in 16 years - and you still feel bad about this one season? Shut up already! . Now his due: With a fantastic script from Hank Steinberg , the little S.O.B. has directed a great baseball movie. The realism is unparalleled, right down to those odd, fuzzy-looking batting helmets they wore in the '60s. His lead actors Barry Pepper and Thomas Jane are uncanny, and can act. He doesn't skimp on supporting cast either: Richard Masur the always fascinating Bruce McGill and Billy's daughter, the very sweet Jennifer Crystal . Best of all, there's dramatic tension. It's about an ordinary man under extraordinary pressure . It's about a decent man who's treated as a villain, and an often indecent man who's treated as a hero (movies.msn.com....ews=169862)
The influence of Sam Peckinpah , and also of Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa , on the spectacular wide-screen images of the Texan-Mexican desert captured by Jones and cinematographer Chris Menges has been universally noted. But "The Three Burials" strikes me in the end as more a blend of literary and mythological ingredients, as Jones largely acknowledges. Jones himself gives a memorably precise performance as Pete Perkins, a ranch hand who has promised his undocumented Mexican co-worker, the eponymous Melquiades (Julio César Cedillo), that if anything happens to Melquiades, Pete won't allow him to be buried "among the billboards" (i.e., in the United States). I think it's giving nothing away to tell you that Melquiades is shot by an amped-up Border Patrol officer named Mike Norton (Barry Pepper ), whose quality time with the women of Hustler magazine is rudely interrupted by what he thinks are shots fired in his direction. As we skip forward and backward in time, Pete begins to work out what has happened to his friend, Mike and his superiors try to cover up the crime, and what passes for Van Horn's community is dragged into the drama (dir.salon.com....12/15/btm/)
So superb was the job Billy Crystal did on this movie that it is the bestbaseball (even sports) film I have ever seen. Every detail ismeticulouslyworked out, even more accurately, I believe , than in The Titanic (which, contrary to popular belief, had a few inaccuracies). And while a strongeffort in getting look alikes can never completely pay off with so manypeople involved, how about Barry Pepper as Maris? (Of course, the mostimportant person.) (www.imdb.com/title/tt0250934/)
I thought Unknown was great. I really had to keep up with the twistsand turns.it certainly forced me to pay attention (which is a goodthing!) as sometimes I start to zone out. I was impressed with the castgiven the independent nature of the movie and the fact that it isn&tplaying in many theaters. I love Jim Caviezel .he&s a babe! I also likeGreg Kinnear and was surprised to see him play a not-so-likable guy butthen again.what do you expect given the circumstances. Joe P wasfunny in his own way and Barry Pepper was an unknown to me until thismovie. One of my new favorite TV shows is Six Degrees which starsBridget M. She was great in this movie and a total surprise to me atthe end. I never predicted the end at all and that made the movie allthe better. I did not foresee a lot of what transpired in theend.don&t want to give it away though. I sure hope it gets to moretheaters but if it doesn&t, buy it through pay-per-view or rent theDVD. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it kept me on my toes (www.imdb.com/title/tt0450340/)
The biggest reason why I find the '61 chase more interesting than the'98 chase is that in '61, the top two contenders were teammates. Bothplayed for who else the New York Yankees. One was Mickey Mantle(played by Thomas Jane ), who had already spent a decade with theYankees and was unquestionably the biggest star of the day. The otherwas Roger Maris (Barry Pepper ), who was much less heralded. Maris hadjust emerged as a star the year before, winning the American LeagueMost Valuable Player award in his Yankees debut, which followed threesolid but unspectacular years with other Major League teams. If you need to know about the plot it's this simple Earth has beenconquered by an amazingly stupid group of Klingon-like aliens , and theremaining humans live in a large domed slave labor camp where they aretaught that their sole purpose is servitude because they are stupid, weak, etc. Barry Pepper somehow becomes convinced that he's not born tobe a slave, and learns to fly a harrier, etc. It's really not worth theeffort of typing. There are a few not-so-subtle and not very originalbut good messages about ethnocentrism to be found here, but not muchelse. Some day when you need a good laugh, rent this or borrow it fromyour local bad film collector. (us.imdb.com/title/tt0185183/)
