While looking up videos related to the upcoming 60;Walk Hard61; movie, I stumbled across some videos that I had forgotten about. There was a series of Apple 60;switch61; ads that featured Will Ferrell . Some as himself, others as Santa Claus . I57;ll probably post them all eventually, but you can check out the [70; (www.applegazett....egory/ads/)
Did Stanley Kubrick know this? Did Stanley Kubrick WATCH this movie? "Dr. Strangelove" has footage lifted from "Santa Claus vs. the Martians"? I'm crushed (latimesblogs.latimes.com....pa-12.html)
my kids loved it but i thought it could use some worki didn't like the part how Santa Claus only was for 100 year because inother movies and books he is meant to live forever and my kids asked whyitwas different in that movie and i had to make up excusesotherwise it was a great mov (www.imdb.com/title/tt0325849/)
When you pay for a movie, that's your "vote". When you buy tickets to the Ice-capades performance of the Polar Express, you're voting. When you buy that insulting stuffed Santa Claus that appeals to the largest possible existentialist audience by saying "Christmas. is in your heart" you are voting. To vote "NO" you don't buy! Let your voice. not be heard (wardomatic.blogspot.com....ck_18.html)
The 1984 film Silent Night, Deadly Night is a typical Eighties horror movie, considered controversial upon release because the killer dressed up as Santa Claus . The first 10 minutes of the film are truly the best part, and this is due almost entirely to character actor Will Hare , today's featured scene stealer. (www.cinematical.com....-stealers/)
It would take only a little longer for Santa Claus to displace Jesus Christ as the leading symbol of the holiday that, after all, was meant to commemorate Christ57;s birth. That displacement offended some, and the growing commodification of the holiday would provide a subject for debate and commentary for years to come. A character in the 1947 movie Miracle on 34th Street remarks to the department-store Santa played by the great Edmund Gwenn , 60;Yeah, there57;s a lot of bad isms floating around this world, but one of the worst is commercialism. Make a buck, make a buck. . . . Don57;t care what Christmas stands for. Just make a buck, make a buck.61; But merchants and manufacturers countered that it was no sin to make money from the holidays; indeed, those celebrations, a 1914 editorial in American Florist magazine opined, were 60;made possible only through the fact that money was made from them.61 (blogs.britannica.com....ry/movies/)
Old friends resisting maturity is always a promising premise and, in fact, we'll probably see "Wild Hogs 2" in about 10 years, with Ben Stiller , Owen Wilson , Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell atop the Harleys. But only a few tired jokes about bran muffins and hyperactive bladders separate this movie from the most generic kiddie flick. While the stars along with wasted love interests Marisa Tomei , Jill Hennessy and Tichina Arnold have charisma to spare, they're stuck amid toilet jokes, baseballs to the groin and a score so intrusively cutesy, it's a wonder Allen never turns into Santa Claus (www.nydailynews.com....els-2.html)
I gave this movie 10 stars to counter some of the 1-star reviews, but Ithink it garners a solid 7 nonetheless. I don&t know what those whorated it so poorly were expecting, but for me, it was just what Iexpected enough chuckles to be entertaining, pretty Christmasscenery, and a touching story. My 17 and 12-year-old sons liked it aswell. I thought Vince Vaughn played his typical character, which isalways good for a laugh or two, though rarely one you would chokeyourself on. I don&t think the movie would necessarily go over with thepre-school crowd because it&s not The Santa Claus , but children whoare old enough to understand the emotions being portrayed should enjoyit. There are a couple of sexual innuendos that may offend the moreconservative viewers, but they likely go over the heads of theyoungsters. I&m always amazed at the range of reviews movies get hereat IMDb, and they truly show why we&ll never all get along. I foundthis particular film both entertaining and moving, which is all Iusually ask, particularly of a Holiday fi (us.imdb.com/title/tt0486583/)
The movie wants to be good-hearted but is somehow sort of grudging. It should have gone all the way. I think Fred Claus should have been meaner if he was going to be funnier, and Santa should have been up to something nefarious, instead of the jolly old ho-ho-ho routine (www.metacritic.com..../fredclaus)
