I will especially miss Pete's annual Christmas Program when he interviewed "Santa's Assistant" (I can't remember his name) - it was Pete playing the role of the assistant, right? It was always hilarious and entertaining. Pete will be sorely misse (petewilsonlistenercomments.blogspot.com....-died.html)
I have listened to Pete for many, many years, and I am deeply saddened by his passing. I grew up in KGO country as I lived in Santa Cruz County area for most of my life . We moved to Sacramento 10 years ago and since then I've only been able to listen to Pete's talk show. I heard his show the day before the surgery when he had callers talking about their experiences with the hip replacement. He told a funny story about Ethel Kennedy and his first surgery (petewilsonlistenercomments.blogspot.com....-died.html)
Santa and Pete is a wonderful story that reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas. Bags of coal to the reviewer who felt St. Nick was diminished. Read mor (www.amazon.com....70-9049060)

The Santa and Pete story is set in New Amsterdam . The sub-story centers on an African-American widowed grandfather retelling a traditional tale that had been handed down to him. Read mor (www.amazon.com....70-9049060)
"Pete was well-loved and well-respected worldwide," said Anthony Ruffo, one of Davi's best friends, who was at the surf spot Tuesday. "People from everywhere are calling. He'll be so missed. He's the diplomat of surfing. He was an anchor and a bridge between Santa Cruz and Monterey surfers." (www.sfgate.com....BTOFIF.DTL)
Santa himself never could have anticipated the lasting impact the gift of a chemistry set would have on young Pete Karpyk. That gift enabled him to discover a love of chemistry and served as a key to his future. In no time, the elementary student had set up a chemistry lab in his basement (www.education-world.com....e097.shtml)
Enough folks commute to Google that they have buses that go toBerkeley and Santa Cruz, for the love of Pete. "The Valley" worksas a model for looking at businesses, but for voting? Probably notso much (letters.salon.com..../?show=all)
This fictional story based on a young African American boy in New York City is grounded in history (co-writer Christopher Moore is the Commissioner of New York City Landmarks) and decorated with the whimsy of imagination and magic. When Terrence was seven years old, he was forced to spend Saturdays riding alongside his grandfather, a Metro bus driver , through the streets of the city. At first Terrence is resentful, but then he begins to listen to his grandfather's stories-the stories of the settling of New York , how the city belongs to all people of all races. Driving down St. Nicholas Avenue, his grandfather begins the story of "Santa & Pete." He tells how St. Nicholas was imprisoned as a spy during the Inquisition, but was eventually rescued by Pete, a former slave in Spain under the Moors. The duo found their way to New York and began the long-standing tradition of giving gifts to the needy. When Terrence eventually discovers his connection to Pete, the story suggests that all who celebrate Christmas can be the rescuers and helpers of St (www.amazon.com....70-9049060)
I ordered this book when placing an order for Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. I ordered Santa and Pete thinking it was written by the same Christopher Moore who wrote Practical Demon Keeping, Blood Sucking Fiends, Coyote Blue, etc. I've never been so disappointed just opening a box in fact, Santa and Pete is still in the box. Santa and Pete is written by a different Christopher Moore. I feel very mislead by . as this book was suggested along with all of the above mentioned books by Christopher Moore (I do own all of the previous books by Christopher and truly believed I was getting a Christmas story he was involved in writing). Bad marketing . misleading and dishonest really helped shake the confidence I had in you. You might like to research your authors more before pulling a stunt like this doesn't do much for your good-will (www.amazon.com....70-9049060)
Every generation needs a Christmas tale to call its own. Moore has created just such a story in Santa Pete. I'll not fall into the debate about historical accuracy. Instead, I'll just say that this book does not apologize for its feel good manner and certainly succeeds in warming the reader (www.amazon.com....70-9049060)
Moore and Johnson have crafted a new holiday tradition in this little book. An extremely engaging tale, Santa Pete enables the reader to see and feel the story. Christmas in New York is a magical time. This story, though, waves a wand over the island of Manhattan and sprinkles it with snowflakes of fairy dust. Santa Pete should be required reading for historians, theologians, and, perhaps most of all, parents who read to their children (www.amazon.com....70-9049060)
SANTA MONICA, Calif. More like blew his load. You know Papa Joe swings that way too. He&s just afraid that with Pete around for Christmas he&s going to be tempted to play a game of Santa goes down the chimney. His dream come true is a Pete and Ash threesome . (www.dlisted.com....y/term/115)

This heartwarming holiday story is a welcome addition to the small roster of tales that relate an ethnically based story for a general readership. Welcome, too, is the strong prose and sure craftsmanship that keeps sentimentality at arm's length while spinning an absorbing narrative. The African American narrator, Terence, looks back on the winter of 1959, when he was a boy and accompanied his grandfather, a bus driver , on his Saturday route, receiving from the old gentleman a capsule history of old New York and an introduction to his African American heritage. Harkening back to the time when the city was New Amsterdam , grandfather tells the story of Pete, born a slave in Spain and a worker in a Seville prison during the Inquisition, when the real St. Nicholas, a Christian bishop, was imprisoned there. According to grandfather, Pete became Santa's sidekick and they sailed for the New World . The story of their adventures, delivered with humor and easily assimilated historical details, is inspirational in the best sense, grounded in truths of human nature and ethical conduc (www.amazon.com....70-9049060)
USC 's recruiting class could grow if several local or out-of-state players who have not made oral commitments announce they will join USC , but several recruiting experts said it would probably be Coach Pete Carroll's lowest-ranked class in five years because it lacks quantity as well as a quarterback and marquee running back. Santa Ana Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley is one of eight juniors who have made commitments to the Trojans. Several members of the class that will sign Wednesday, however, could play roles for the Trojans in the upcoming season (www.fannation.com....view/38214)

Movie theaters are "places of public accommodation," and, therefore, are covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA) and 36.104 of the title III regulation. Publicaccommodations are required to provide appropriate auxiliary aidsand services to persons who are deaf or who have hearingimpairments. However, the legislative history of the ADAindicates that this requirement does not mandate open captioningof films shown in movie theaters. Moreover, at present there isno proven technology available for providing closed captions(i.e. captions visible only to individuals who need them) in thissetting. Accordingly, captioning in movie theaters is currentlynot required by the ADA (www.usdoj.gov....al496a.txt)

The first time I ever laid eyes on Pete Seeger was in 1963 or 1964. A few of us were hanging around one Saturday afternoon in the first-floor newsroom of the Harvard Crimson building, on Plympton Street. Out of nowhere , in sauntered Pete Seeger , all alone, banjo strapped across his back like a rifle. We were astounded, but we soon relaxed. After a half hour or so of casual chitchat, Seeger, who was then in his mid-forties, picked up his banjo and sang us a song. 60;Newspaper People61; must have been the title, because the first line, which is all I remember of it, was 60;Newspaper people meet so many interesting people.61; Then he sauntered on out again. We were left as dazzled as if we57;d just had a visit from Santa, or Thomas Paine. I57;d never heard that song before and have never heard it since, but the memory of that afternoon has stayed warm (www.newyorker.com....g/2008/01/)
