As far as I know, Bunta is still cranking away flicks today, recently appearing in Takashi Miike 's "Great Yokai War" and doing voice acting for some big anime flicks (Spirited Away ). He is currently working on "Tales of Earthsea" (voice). Bunta is the epitome of uber-cool acting (even when it's over the top ). He is at his best when he plays a total scumbag (a la "Street Mobster" "Outlaw Killers : 3 Rabid Bro's"). I highly recommend picking up any flick he appears in (yakuza, samurai, cop, janitor, zoo keeper, whatever the gig). Hopefully, us dorks will catch some newbie yakuza flicks with his presence.
