I got the nickname Queenie because I was the oldest of seven; they said I bossed them around. I literally made the nickname stick after being crowned Homecoming Queen. To this day, I still don't believe it happened. I was terrified of people. I was sweet and nice to everyone but wore this mask to hide my illnesses. I had them all fooled (bipolar.about.com....enie_4.htm)

Debra writes, Queenie 's Quest is an essay about my lifelong journey battling dual diagnosis, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and hypothyroidism. It's serious, humorous educational a little long but worth the read. I'm hoping I can help others through my experiences. I'm now 45 and have conquered these illnesses. I want to give hope to others (bipolar.about.com....ueenie.htm)

It is a closed community and has some rules. One is that nothing you post should actualy be offensive to Queenie . Another is that it's not about lurking, you should post something soon after joining or you will be removed. (community.livejournal.com....ie/profile)

Also, I'm the mod here. If I come up with another good reason to remove you, I will. Please don't take it personaly. In the end, of course, Ted does so, acting as a rather improbable detective, but only after a series of imaginative set pieces, including a scene with a horse that has to be read to be believed. Queenie GEORGE was born on June 2, 1902 in Brentwood, Essex, England. Her parents wereHenry GEORGE and Lucy JENKINS. I feel this information is accurate because it appears onall documentation during her lifetime. It always remained consistent. However, in orderto know more about her, I must take you back. (www.geocities.com....page3.html)

For reference, I've searched for my grandmother's birth andthat of her siblings under the surname JENKINS, BARNES and GEORGE withno success. I've been told that "Queenie " is more a pet namethan a Christian name and that she could have beencalled Elizabeth or Margaret. "Queenie " was apparently popularduring and after Queen Victoria's reign. (www.geocities.com....page3.html)

And a mention about a New Orleans singer who was flooded out of the city- Leigh Harris, aka Little Queenie : Like a lot of musicians, she lost a lot of her possessions, awards and memorabilia, and some of her friends, too. She is an often overlooked New Orleans icon, and an amazing vocalist. It is a shame that she will not be at this year's Jazz Fest because the Fest people refuse to pay her enough to perform, as she has for over 25 years. She is responsible for the birth of Bonerama and Jimmy Robinson's Twangarama. Leigh and John Magnie of the Subdudes started a group called Little Queenie and the Percolators in the 70's, and that band set the new musical direction for a lot of New Orleans artists. She has sung with practically every New Orleans musician, and just abut every style. Just ask around (www.huffingtonpost.com....87895.html)

Queenie entered St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London , on April 26th 1909 and left June 19th 1912; during this time she would have lived at the hospital. She spent these three years under the iron fist of the Matron, Miss E. M. Davies. (www.gregormacgregor.com....an1886.htm)

At that time there were no nursing degrees or honours awarded; at the end of her training Queenie would have received the hospital certificate.
