The outfit reminds me of that film 60;Le Roi Danse61; by Gerard Corbiau wherein Benoit Magimel stars as Louis XIV. Those French period films are definitely very well dressed like Chereau57;s Queen Margot despite the gore, the costumes were beyond words (blog.metmuseum.org....ncroyable/)

Henri IV's ex-wife, Queen Margot , took up residence in 1605. Known for her eccentricity and lavish tastes, Queen Margot pursued many love affairs here. She is even rumored to have collected the hair of her lovers to fashion wigs from the (goparis.about.com....Tour_2.htm)

In the 90s Adjani started acting less and less and chose to spend much of her time raising her two sons by director Bruno Nuytten and actor Daniel Day-Lewis. She would triumphantly return to the screen again in Patrice Chéreau57;s excellent bloody historical epic Queen Margot (La Reine Margot, 1994), but she has only made a handful of films since then. Unfortunately most of her recent films are not easily available to American audiences which is a sham (cinebeats.blogs....m/2007/06/)

Perez is best know for his performances in three French films, Cyrano De Bergerac (1990), Indochine (1992), and Queen Margot (1994). In 1995 he was voted one of The 50 Most Beautiful People In the World by People magazine. How fortunate we are to meet here. Allow me, Gaston, to present our ladies to you: Queen Isabeau, Fräulein Johanna, Fräulein Margot. 22 Botho saw what sort of names were the order of the day, and adapting himself quickly, he replied, indicating Lena with a little gesture and introducing her: Mademoiselle Agnes Sorel. 23 All the three men bowed civilly, even to all appearances respectfully, while the two daughters of Thibaut d Arc made a very slight curtsey, and Queen Isabeau, who was at least fifteen years older, offered a more friendly greeting to Agnes Sorel, who was not only a stranger to her, but apparently embarrassed. 24 The whole affair was a disturbance, perhaps even an intentional disturbance, but the more successfully the plan worked out, the more needful did it seem to keep a bold front at a losing game. And in this Botho was entirely successful. He asked one question after another, and thus found out that the little group had taken one of the small steamers very early and had left the boat at Schmöckwitz, and from there had come to Zeuthen on a sailboa (www.bartleby.co..../4/13.html)

What starts out as a sumptuous setting, with intricate period pieces andsoft light cinematography, is quickly tainted by a very poor script. True,Pilar López de Ayala does give an envigorating rendering of thismisfortunate queen, but after the first scene, it's all the sameshrillness, over and over again.Even though the movie takes place over 10 years, the roles don't mature, either outwardly or inwardly, and the result are wooden characterizationsthat don't give any depth (or generate interest, for that matter) to theroles. The result is an inane, one-dimensional film that could have easilyresembled similar period pieces such as La reine Margot or Elizabeth .Instead, it wallows in its own misery . Jean Tartier, head of the French Protestant Federation, said the Pope had made a very important statement that goestowards asking for forgiveness and looking back at history.''Testimony that the massacre still haunts mainly Catholic France camein a recent film, La Reine Margot'' (Queen Margot ), starringIsabelle Adjani, which graphically described the killings and theobscure civil war plots that led to it. Most French people nowadays,in a country which has had two Protestant prime ministers in lessthan a decade, are at a loss to understand the complex causes of themassacre. Even the death toll is controversial. It has been variouslyput at between 1,000 and 10,000 in Paris, and 2,000 up to 100,000 forthe whole country. (lystykds.0catch.com....histod.htm)
