Pictures from my day at the Savonburg, KS Public Library can be found on my moblog . There is also a pic of The Majestic Steakhouse where I got to have dinner with Louise again. (Yes, she drove down from Des Moines for dinner. (www.travelinlibrarian.info....om-my.html)

I have never been interested in photography as art so very few of my pictures can stand alone. They have all been taken for a cinematic narrative on racism with simple, quickly grasped motives and are therefore also on the Internet best viewed in an educational context (www.american-pi....m/gallery/)

For good reasons I did not take all these family photos myself. I have only included a few pictures from the 1st and 2nd generation since only the older generations have significance for related genealogists around the world. (www.american-pi....m/gallery/)

With the growth of social networking and personal websites, it has become far easier for the media to get hold of such pictures . If we do use them, can this be justified? This is an issue we're giving some thought to at the moment, and I'd be keen to hear your views. (www.bbc.co.uk....tures.html)

Researchers at Cornell University are using a new kind of scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) to take pictures of individual atoms in color for the first time. It seems odd, but 'the current generation of electron microscopes can be thought of as expensive black and white cameras where different atoms (updates.zdnet.com....tures.html)

[70;] I57;m in trouble now. A few days ago I saw some pictures that someone had taken of Tokyo. Ordinarily this would not be a big deal, but the pictures were very surreal and full of detail. This was my first introduction to High Dynamic Range (HDR) Imaging. [70; (pingmag.jp....yo-gotham/)

This Posting entitled â10 Pictures of Tokyo Gothamâ inspired me to take some HDR (High Dynamic Range) images by myself. And i found it not that easy to make them look good. Well, iâll try again ⦠and again ⦠(pingmag.jp....yo-gotham/)

That57;s amazing! I57;ve never heard of HDR before this, and it57;s gotta be the coolest way of taking pictures ! I love how the images look so artistic because of their sureal quality. Fabulous (pingmag.jp....yo-gotham/)

[70;] Here are pictures of Tokyo and New York City utlizing High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging techniques, where multiple exposures of the same scene are taken so that you get much greater range of colors in your images. After combining images, you get all the details in the shadows while not having the rest of the scene blown out. [70; (pingmag.jp....yo-gotham/)

I was cleaning pictures from my mobile phone today and thought some of them were quite interesting so I'll share them. The quality is not very good and I am not a good photographer, but maybe you'll find some of them interesting, entertaining or will inspire you to visit one of the places I've been to (blogs.sun.com....my_travels)

People all over the world took pictures of the comet57;s outburst (the cause of which is still something of a mystery). For a while, the outburst appeared as a circular shell surrounding the comet, though eventually a more tail-like appearance took shape70; but it was still just plain ol57; od (www.badastronomy.com....s-of-2007/)

[70;] Top Ten Astronomy Pictures of 2007 60;There are so many incredible astronomical photographs released every year that picking ten as the most beautiful is a substantial task. But it becomes easier when you consider the science behind the image as well. Does this image tell us more than that o [70; (www.badastronomy.com....s-of-2007/)

[70;] The Top Ten Astronomy Pictures of 2007- from the Bad Astronomy Blog. The interestingness of this blog starts with the beauty of the images, moves to the humility that [70; (www.badastronomy.com....s-of-2007/)

[70;] Top 10 Astronomy Pictures I57;ve never been a huge astronomy fan. Yeah, the Universe is fascinating and full of mystery; but there57;s something inherently unknowable about it that for some reason distracts me from its splendour. Nonetheless, these images are truly captivating. [70;] (www.badastronomy.com....s-of-2007/)

Linguistic sexual dimorphism: skanks. Although I suspect that otherwise charming young ladies pose for these pictures with the circus freaks as a joke. "I went to Jersey and all I got was this lousy orange stain on my dress. (www.boingboing.net....ys-in.html)

When I was in high school, the only proof of the bad fashion trends were the yearbooks.thanks to the Internets, these kids will never outlive these pictures . I feel sorry for their future kids (www.boingboing.net....ys-in.html)

Above and below are pictures sent from places as far-flung as Santiago,Chile and Waterloo , Ontario. The response was great; the enthusiasm, asseen in these comments , positively heartwarming - and I needed that warmth, because it was cold in New York City last night (blog.wired.com....f-las.html)

Thanks for posting the pictures . My 6 year old just couldn't make it to see the totality. She cried for 20 minutes this morning that she missed it. These pictures have made her feel much better. (blog.wired.com....f-las.html)

OMG those were the greatest pictures ive seen! i thank like everyone who put these pictures , because i didnt get to see it because of the stupid clouds that got in the way here in Eagle Pass Tx. well Bye (blog.wired.com....f-las.html)

These photos are awesome! I was not able to see it actually happen because of all the clouds here in the Broken Bow area. But now I can say that I got to see really cool pictures of what really happened. (blog.wired.com....f-las.html)

Two or three pictures , true, have looked into the future for their settings, but none on so large a scale as this. "Just Imagine" is laid in New York in 1980 (www.paleofuture.com....ve-50.html)

It's ironic that you mention pictures today. I have just finished viewing the Pulitzer Prize winning series of photos about the passing of Derek Madsen, a young boy who fought and lost a tragic battle with cancer. Obviously it is very emotional. (www.npr.org....n_any.html)

The town of Ivrea, in Italy's Piedmont region, has a unique way of celebrating Carnival. An ancient battle is reenacted with an exciting and juicy orange battle. Thousands of oranges are thrown during the battle in the town center. James Martin traveled to Ivrea on his last day in Turin. Here are pictures of the Ivrea Carnival taken by James (goitaly.about.com....-italy.htm)

Perspective distortion is inherent in wide-angle lenses. The edges of the photos curve and part of the image appears abnormally large. Pictures taken with fisheye lenses (extreme wide-angle lenses) exemplify this. The center of the photo is large and the rest of the image falls away (www.usatoday.com....ures_x.htm)

The pictures in this section came from Dwight L. Keeney (my dad) with the exception of the color photo of Larry in the navy most were scanned from original photo's with the exception of the photo of Raymond LaVon Keeney his wife standing together the Elmer A. Keeney family which are from photocopies. I do have an original of the Elmer A. Keeney family photo which I need to get repaired (www.keeneyklan.com....es/Pix.htm)

My photography is thus a result of non-violent communication with the victims of a violent racism. My parents in disbelief of my written accounts sent me after one year a pocket-size Canon Dial for my birthday asking me to send some pictures home. I had never photographed before and saw it first as my visual diary helping me to remember all the people who gave me hospitality and food in more than 400 homes over 5 years as a 60;vagabond61;. This is my term for a hitchhiker who with no exception says yes to every invitation he receives and thus throws himself into the arms of many abusive people whom at least I had been brought up to avoid in my safe Danish rectory. The half-frame camera took 72 pictures on a roll, so by selling my blood plasma twice a week for $5 each time, I could afford 2 rolls of film a week. Often I hitchhiked enormous distances to go to e.g. New Orleans , where the blood banks paid $6,10, but during the last two years I made small picture books to show to better-off drivers after which I often got small donations 51; the highest was $30 from a businessman in Philadelphi (www.american-pictures.com....graphy.htm)

I have at times 51; not least by West Indian blacks in England 51; been criticized for showing American blacks as passive victims. The truth, as I see it, is that through my non-violent approach to photography the pictures show the peaceful harmony I myself found with the ghetto. Thus they usually don57;t portray the (counterproductive) anger which most (American) whites see, expect and especially fear in the victims of their own racism. Exactly for that reason since they 60;humanize61; ghetto blacks in the eyes of whites 51; they have been an enormously effective educational tool for unlearning the racism of students in American universities for the last 30 years. 60;I feel liberated,61; enthusiastic students often exclaim after my presentations, demonstrating the enormous burden involuntary negative thinking of other people is. While my pictures thus can be 60;liberating61; in an educational context, I have some fears that by standing alone in a book, in an exhibition or on the Internet without my words, they may seem 60;oppressive61 (www.american-pictures.com....graphy.htm)

A local museum has a model train show every winter that is always packed.by adults. I have never been one fortrains, but I know it is a passion for many. In fact, my recent post of the Women of the Railroad was quite popular.Anyway, for you train enthusiasts, I've found a good site for railroad pictures (www.scmwire.com....mory-lane/)

These pictures are of the Tomatina Tomato Fight from August 30 2006. The action began at about 9am with the Greasy Pole Climb in which everyone tried to climb a greasy pole to reach a ham that was tied to the top. At 11am the tomato fight started, with truckload after truckload of tomatoes coming into the square. One of the silliest festivals in the world and probably one of the most fun. This photo of plaque psoriasis of the elbow was taken in the 1970's so it is not as clear as the other pictures . You can tell how thick the scale is. Some of the scale has been removed but you can see that it is growing back (dermatology.about.com....Elbow2.htm)

Have you ever wondered what the beaches at Normandy looked like on D-Day ? Or how tanks and trucks got transported? Or how wounded soldiers were evacuated? This large compilation of pictures of D-Day gives you a closer look at this invasion , including pictures of preparation, crossing the English Channel, landing on the beaches at Normandy, and casualties (history1900s.about.com....ures-3.htm)

. If there is anything even slightly redeeming about the whole scenario, and I mean slight , it is that the American military (without the pictures this time, and with much less fanfare, as well) admitted that the Down syndrome claim was false, and that no link to al Qaeda could be demonstrated, either (www.huffingtonpost.com....87993.html)

We have all seen pictures of war. Now, we have a war that promises more nukes (US/Israel vs. Iran) that is going to happen soon, so we can all gush over up-to-date images of nuclear atrocities. ANONIBU (fogonazos.blogspot.com....us_05.html)

Maybe they don't show these pictures in the United States, but in the rest of the world, we see them. When are you as a nation going to realize you are NOT a protector of human rights but rather an abuser (fogonazos.blogspot.com....us_05.html)

As horrable as these pictures are, I find that the suffering placed on these peoples pales in compairison to what it would of been if the USA had invaded and used conventional weapons to defeat the enemy that had attacked them at pearl harbor years prio (fogonazos.blogspot.com....us_05.html)

Thank you very much for dedication to meaning and sincerity towards all the lives lost. In ones opinion, I would have to agree that the photos taken were some of the most powerful, and will remain the most powerful pictures taken until the end of tim (fogonazos.blogspot.com....us_05.html)

Rule 3 : Be consistent and save the bandwidth. This means that all pictures larger than 500px in width posted without an lj-cut will be rejected , all text posts with no pictures will be rejected , links posted instead of pictures will be rejected . When you post, make sure you post a picture, and put it behind the lj-cut if it's too big. As simple as that (community.livejournal.com....28385.html)

2007-03-09 06:55 am UTC link Thanks for the comments. I like the idea of limiting posting to one post p/person, but the thing is that most of the time different people post, but there are like 10 of them. Is it fine or should we limit the overall number of pictures p/day (community.livejournal.com....28385.html)

2007-03-08 10:42 pm UTC link Thanks for getting specific about the rules! Once a day work just fine for me, especially seeing as how I don't have a digital camera and will only be able to offer pictures once in a great while. I'll have to start carrying a disposable camera (community.livejournal.com....28385.html)
