In '54, I was seven years old and this is one of the first 'grown up' moviesI remember seeing. I have seen it at least ten times since and realizeseeing something different each tim (us.imdb.com....ercomments)
There&snothing honorable about killing or to be killed on the battlefield. Theonly thing that matters is that you protect you&re friends in yourplatoon and that they protect you. Flags is one of the best war moviesI ever saw, maybe even better than Ryan, because it&s never sentimentaland always honest in its portrayal of the soldiers and war in general. I was really worried going in to see Hollywood Homicide . The reviewsquoted in the TV commercials are all from smaller media outlets andarticlesthat I've read suggest the film makers couldn't make up their mind whetherit's a comedy or an action film. After seeing the movie in the sneakpreview, I know the film makers knew exactly what they they were making -aflat out comedy with some good, funny action sequences. The plot seemedwell thought out - a real web of deceit plays out during the course ofthefilm. All the actors turned in solid performances. I'm not a fan of rapmusic, but the film makers blended rap (which makes sense because of therapindustry crime) with Motown and incidental music seamlessly. A bad scorejumps out at me, but it all fit here. It's one of the funniest moviesI 'veseen in a long time. The humor is all character-driven , never slapstickorforced. Look for lots of cameos, too. My husband had one criticism hethought things weren't wrapped up enough at the end. I think it's wellenough implied that justice will be serve (us.imdb.com/title/tt0329717/)
I am completely appalled to see that the average rating for this movieis 5.2/10 For what affects me, it is definitely one of the worst moviesI have ever seen and I still keep wondering why I watched it until theend. First of all, the plot is totally hopeless, and the acting trulyawful. I think that any totally unknown actress would have been betterfor the role than Susan Lucci; concerning Mr. Kamar Del's Reyes, Ithink it would have been a better choice for him to remain in his Valley of the Dolls . To sum up, it is total waste of time(and i'mtrying to stay polite.) to avoid at any cost. My rating is 1 and Istill think it is well paid, but since we cannot give a (www.imdb.com/title/tt0145679/)
The plot is easy to follow and really brings the idea of Kung fu intothe present time nicely, instead of the normal , wow you&re from HongKong, you must be a kung fu master . Though the fight scenes and othertechnical elements were not as polished as some of the other moviesI &ve seen, I&d still say this movie ranks closely with House of Furyfor entertainment valu (us.imdb.com/title/tt0757378/)
Andin this it is extremely meticulous, detailed, and often horrificallysuccessful. Neither Randy nor I-nor any one in the theatre I couldsee-was bored by or dismissive of the film. It grabs you and it grabsyou hard, and I can easily say that it is one of the finest war moviesI have ever seen, far superior to the likes of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN ,which seems quite tame in comparison (us.imdb.com/title/tt0277434/)
I saw this at a special screening and was very pleasantly surprised.I'm not usually a huge fan of sequels, but this for what it is, isincredibly entertaining on its own merit. I love Sandra, so that may beone of the reasons I liked as much as I did, but that being said, therest of the cast makes this without a doubt one, of the funniest moviesI 've seen in a long time. This will definitely get a vote of must seefrom me to all. The movie goes quickly at the beginning, and then itslows but it keeps you interested. Sandra and Regina are so goodtogether. Wardrobe is GREAT! Sandra dressed as the old woman ishilarious and there are many other great costumes as well. The slowparts only help to make this a real movie. I will make this a definiterepeat movie (www.imdb.com/title/tt0385307/)
What I wouldn't give to have your complaint. The last ten moviesI 've seen in a theater have been played at practicallymind-splitting volume, especially at the beginning. Maybe the soundgoes down after the intro, maybe my ears start to tune out thesound, but it's almost painful at times. And no, I'm not an old mancomplaining about those damn kids and their rock and roll. I likemy music loud. I just don't like feeling the inside of my skullvibrating. (letters.salon.com..../btm/view/)
The Shawshank Redemption is without a doubt one of the most brilliant moviesI have ever seen. Similar to The Green Mile in many respects (and betterthan it in almost all of them), these two movies have shown us that StephenKing is a master not only of horror but also of prose that shakes the souland moves the heart. The plot is average, but King did great things with itin his novella that are only furthered by the direction, and the acting isso top-rate it's almost scar (us.imdb.com....ercomments)
The first time I saw 8½ I was in my teens and hated it. I thenrewatched it only a few years later, in my early 20s, and somethingmiraculous happened. It was probably a pivotal moment in myfilm-viewing experience: it suddenly gave me new parametres by which tojudge movies and even art in general. I suddenly learnt this newlanguage, so much more beautiful and sophisticated than anything I hadheard before. What was most amazing was that after the first negativeexperience, I had somehow tapped into this language&s secret, and itwasn&t in the least bit hermetic or difficult, though more complex andsophisticated than other languages I already knew. Many of the moviesI &d considered greats became amateurish or dwarfish in comparison (us.imdb.com....ercomments)
