If you're new to Linux, you don't want to download the kernel, which is just a component in a working Linux system. Instead, you want what is called a distribution of Linux, which is a complete Linux system. There are numerous distributions available for download on the Internet as well as for purchase from various vendors; some are general-purpose, and some are optimized for specific uses. We currently have mirrors of several distributions available at mirrors.kernel.org , as well as a small collection of special-purpose distributions at http://www.kernel.org/pub/dist/ (www.kernel.org/)

I haven57;t been entering my votes in the ASC Awards for the last few days, but I have them all typed up in a file. I have only two Voyager categories left to read: J/C and Glory Days . Glory Days isn57;t an official awards category; I just saved all the stories from the series (except for one Seven fic) to read together. Toward that end, I converted the whole series to PDF. My special, paper-saving version is only 82 pages, but I also looked at the double-spaced version, which was 344 pages and 100,000 words. Now I have a printed copy thanks to the wonders of LaTeX and duplexing laser printers. It had better pass the three paragraph test70 (www.ficml.org....s/2003/03/)

Your post was well argued, and I have stopped to think. As you will realise, with anything that touches on racial sensitivity, the questions of whether you are right in what you say and whether it is sensible to say it may yield different answers. I still find the proposals (and their presentation) a gimmick. Had New Labour raised the stakes and sent two from every year ten class (which is more than two for every year ten) then it would be a real step in Holocaust awareness. To present in a fairly triumphal way a proposal which is actually underfunded in a penny pinching way, is a little much. It is the press announcement that headlined the amount of money being spent by the government, so raising the missing £100 per pupil is not just some churlish quibble it is replying to the press announcement in its own terms. The two from every sixth form irritates me. I appreciate your point that this is still sending real people to a very real place but it is also as if someone has asked what is the least we can do and appear to be doing a lot (blogs.guardian.co.uk....ssued.html)
However awful are Gaza, Guantanamo even to compare them with the European war is facile. To find true parallels we would have to visit Vorkuta in the Urals, an institution that dwarfed Auschwitz, or study the wars that simoultaneously raged in the Far East. I do not think we can simply send a few children to Auschwitz, or even visit ourselves, and say well there you are, we now understand what happened. We need to see it in a wider context, the rise of Hitler, the simultaneous emergance of Stalin etc. Hitler started his career in the back room of a bier keller in Munich I believe . His rise was facillitated by more mainstream politicians, who were not willing to confront and refute his racist fantasies. So you might just as profitably send sixth formers to listen in on pub conversations about the current scapegoats in Britain, Moslems, teenage mothers, people on Incapacity Benefit etc. then look at the policies "respectable" politicians propose to deal with the bogeys they have created (blogs.guardian.co.uk....ssued.html)

Pastis, millions of Poles and Russains were also victims of genocide by the Nazis in WW2, along with Gypsies, Yugoslavs and others. Also there were other genocides of the 20th century the Armenians, the Cambodians, the Tutsi in Rwanda, and possibly Darfur. To suggeste that the genocide of Jews was more the most significant of all these horrible event, just because it was better organised, is ludicrous beyond belief you are in effect saying that Jewish lives are worth more than the lives of others. The word Holocaust should be used to cover all these genocides, not just one, and children should be edcuated on the evils of all these evil events (blogs.guardian.co.uk....ssued.html)

For example, one thing that's well known about Digg is you can work hard, you get an article get on the front page of Digg, and get lots of traffic, but the traffic you get will bring you little or no business. It's just not what you should be shooting for. You want to be in a dialogue with people where the dialogue is going to persist. br / br / b Avinash Kaushik: /b You are very right. That's exactly what I was alluding to, because, I do think that people get a bit too wrapped up in getting on the homepage of Digg, and they try to game systems and try to get all their friends to Digg their post. There are cabals of people now, who are like, "I'll Digg yours and you'll Digg mine". I found, having been on the homepage of Digg at least twice now, that definitely it is great for bringing traffic. You will get more traffic then you would get in a couple of months just by being in the homepage of the Digg. br / br / And, it's a great site. But, the interesting thing as I think about it is, what is the objective of what I am trying to do? I only want relevant traffi (feeds.feedburne....C-Articles)
I was touched by Rob's cri de coeur about the dreariness of Catholic liturgical music and congregational singing. And I can't dismiss his despair about what passes for music in our churches as the lament of a not-yet-fully-assimilated evangelical convert still longing for Amazing Grace and Rock of Ages. This cradle Catholic agrees entirely with Rob about not just the lousy singing but a body of music that. at best, combines the Carpenters with bad show tunes or Sesame Street singalongs. If you think I am just being some kind of snob, check out Thomas Day's terrific book. Why Catholics Can't Sing: The Culture of Catholicism and the Triumph of Bad Taste. The book begins with this intriguing passage: Contemplate this very odd situation. Today, a large number of Roman Catholics in the US who go to church regularly-perhaps the majority-rarely or barely sing any of the music. (I have heard a congregation of fifty elderly Episcopalians produce more volume than three hundred Roman Catholics.) If you think about it, this stands out as a most curious development in the history of Christianit (www.mirrorofjustice.com....e/2006/05/)
/news/releases/2008/02/20080221-1.wm.v.html President Bush on Thursday said, "It is easy to destroy a country; it is hard to rebuild a country. And I, Madam President, I want you to know that the United States of America supports you as you rebuild your country. We share a special history with Liberia.
