For all that, JUNO remains a very smart, very witty and thoroughly engaging film. It's windy here in Toronto , so much so that a tree was knocked down on one of the major roads near all the posh hotels where the stars are staying. But it's peaceful and quiet up in Naomi Watts ' suite. The actress, there with her 6-week-old son Alexander (whom she and daddy Liev Schreiber call Sasha), her nanny and assistant. Watts flew in on Friday, and leaves again on Sunday to join Schreiber in Lithuania where he's filming. She's here promoting Eastern Promises , a gritty drama about the Russian Mob. So, any plans to finally lighten up and do a romantic comedy ? I would like to see myself in one, but I'm not sure anybody else would, she jokes, sipping tea for nursing mothers. JUNO is another of those films that you feel wouldnāt have happened before Wes Anderson and Sundance took off and Napoleon Dynamite became a sleeper hit. You know what I mean. The faux-naif acoustic soundtrack featuring Kinks songs and Lou Reed . The quirky characters that say ever-so-slightly unrealistic things about life and love. The over-designed sets, crammed with bad-taste props and trashy clothes. The use of carefully designed credits with a hand-made feel ā this time half-animated. The insistent campy visual motifs ā in this case Michael Ceraās track-suit and the joggers who run across screen every now and then .
