Dinner Rush

If your family is anything like mine, weeknights can be very hectic. Between homework and running the kids to sports practices, I just don't have too much time to cook dinner. Here are some quick and easy dinner recipes that I use for those evenings when we are all in a rush. (homeparents.about.com....mily-6.htm)

"I'm waiting for a guy to take me to do something super-crazy that I'd never expect, like bungee jumping," Kurkova added. "Dinner is nice, but everyone does that. I'd really like something unexpected." (www.nydailynews.com....sh_molloy/)

"I don't need a big bouquet of flowers," Leonardo DiCaprio 's on-again girlfriend, model Bar Rafaeli, told us. "Maybe just one flower that you picked out on the street. Just write a card no gifts, no dinner. I like simple things." (www.nydailynews.com....sh_molloy/)

trying to make that timpano for years), Like Water for Chocolate , Eat Drink (and Tortilla Soup ). Not as much but still wonderful: Dinner Rush , Mostly Martha , Oliver . (www.chowhound.c....ics/302328)

I can't speak to whether Peppermill gave you a good example of shad roe since I've never had it, but the place is definitely a good example of dry and unappetizing. Of course, you may have gotten there long after the dinner rush - like 6:30. (www.chowhound.c....ics/422201)

You'd think only a man would enter a scene as tense and overwrought as the dinner rush and decide that his best contribution to the woman at the heart of it would be to offer a relaxed assessment of the Iraqi civil war. (www.powells.com....01_15.html)

Oh, Jimmy's! We always joke hey, it's 6pm after the dinner rush is over! I think the avg age lowers after 7pm. We were at home for V Day, but given a choice I would have kept going to Katmandu Spice! (www.chowhound.c....ics/489886)

What people miss in all of the stories about the big paychecks that Celine and Elton and even Barry Manilow are cashing in Las Vegas is how much grinding labor is required from them to be a regular headliner on the Strip. You can't be erratic. When Celine Dion cancels even a single show for illness it makes the news. To headline here means a lot of people depend on your presence and professionalism for their jobs on six nights a week; tourists build vacations around your show and even the restaurants at the resort expect the dinner rush to come before and after you perform. The boardroom scene was pretty exciting all around. Summer really blew it by interrupting the Donald while he was berating Tarek. I kind of agreed with her decision not to call restaurants during the dinner rush . Also, it was Tarek's fault that there was no real hook for enticing people to come in. But she should have called the restaurants in the morning to make up for it. Instead of pointing out a problem and devising a solution, she simply gave up. That's never a good sign. Obviously, Lee shouldn't have been in the boardroom at all. And what about poor Lenny? It made sense that he would be directing the blimp since he lived in that area. So who can blame him for not selling memberships? Tarek's arguments against Lenny and Lee were limp. Instead of offering specifics, he just said they didn't "step up." That phrase should be banned from this show! I also thought that the Donald was disrespectful towards Lenny. Hopefully he'll learn the poor guy's name and stop calling him "the Russian" and making jokes about Siberia (blog.inc.com....ntice.html)

Dinner was beautiful, and all served to you by 2 lovely sicilian men, take your time and relax, you will be allocated your own table on arrival so your never in a rush to have to get up! (www.tripadvisor.com....icily.html)

I've noticed a heartening trend of late. Cooking has been used by films, even mainstream Hollywood blockbusters, as a synecdoche for artistic creativity, or even a metaphor for the infinite variety of the human soul. Like Water for Chocolate is a good example. And dumbing down the recipe, selling out to a chain, then is used to symbolize selling one's soul. First Night uses something like that to symbolize the struggle between good and evil. (Though the bad guy's sellout restaurant looked like a fun place to be.) In Sideways , the main character is basically a chowhound, of the wine variety, and it is that facet of his character, always at war with the selfish-pig aspect, that gets the girl. Eat Drink Man Woman uses food as the battleground (and ultimately the bridge) between generations. So did Dinner Rush . Jet Lag, a French movie, does that too, with a twist. The son, who has gone to New York to run a frozen food company, returns to Brittany to cook in his father's 3-star restaurant . In Woman on Top , which itself is a dumbed-down, but likeable, version of LIke Water for Chocolate , the main character realizes the man she thought she loved is the wrong man for her when he suggests that she substitute canned for fresh peppers in her favorite recipe (www.chowhound.c....ics/302328)

In The Weeds is a mediocre ensemble dramady repartee-fest about thestaff of a restaurant and their activities during one night's dinnerrush. The film offers a solid journeyman cast of familiar faces butrelies too much on snappy patter and clever comebacks while trying tobuild a storyline that is marginal at best, groping for insight andsensitivity which never fully materializes. Nonetheless, there areseveral crisscrossing plot threads and enough energy and wit to make isa mildly entertaining broadcast watch. (C+) Note Those interested ina very good drama which also takes place in a restaurant during onenight's dinner rush should check out Dinner Rush with Danny Aiello . (www.imdb.com/title/tt0210756/)

Breakfast for Dinner This delicious dinner menu is comprised of breakfast foods! There's something really comforting about eating these delicious and easy foods at the leisurely pace of dinner, rather than having to rush through them at breakfast. Swiss Eggs, Creamy Hash Brown Potatoes, and Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake make a fabulous meal. (busycooks.about.com....004_02.htm)

Before you rush off to work, eat breakfast with your child. During this time you can make sure he has all of the necessary things for the day. If you are together at breakfast, your absence at dinner may be better tolerated. (childparenting.about.com....cted_2.htm)

I just don't understand what the point of a reservation is, if you don't get seated until 45 minutes afterwards. Our reservation was for 8:30, and we got seated at 9:45. We even arrived early. Maybe I am naive, but 8:30 should not be the height of the dinner rush . We were not the only ones not getting seated either. They have been in business a long time, they should know how to book their tables a little better. We don't mind waiting, but 45 minutes at 8:30pm is a little crazy. (www.chowhound.c....ics/465929)

I was in something of a rush. I needed to get dinner on the table super-fast. Thinking about it, thats how it is most nights. Anyway, I had some fresh Read More. (lowfatcooking.a....200708.htm)

I would suggest that Rush Limbaugh buy two leadership tables for the awards dinner and attend. Then the next time he insults journalists and "the drive-by media" he might pause and reflect on just how wrong he is. (HA! I amuse myself envisioning Rush actually reflecting on the damage he does with his vicious word play and slurs toward journalists.) (www.spockosbrai....007_08_01_)

My favorite this year was the Swedish thriller Before the Storm , a dark tale about the sudden eruption of violence into suburban domestic life. Nine Queens is an intriguing con film in the best Mamet tradition, while the crime-plus-food comedy Dinner Rush , though entertaining, felt only half-cooked. The documentary Hybrid with the less-than-thrilling subject of corn failed to do anything exciting with its topic and wound up, well, less-than-thrilling. (worldfilm.about.com....32301a.htm)

66; Bar Refaeli says, "I don't need a big bouquet of flowers." She told "Rush & Molloy" , "Maybe just one flower that you picked out on the street. Just write a card 52; no gifts, no dinner. I like simple things." Damn, you're Leonardo DiCaprio 's girlfriend. What a waste! (nymag.com....dy%20adams)

We were at the light house restaurant last year in March with 4 kids ages 12-14 and my husband and myself. We had about a half hour wait (not bad at all given that we were there during Spring Break and right at dinner rush hour) but since they have a great gift shop and Music playing outside, we were entertained until it was time to be seated. The food was petite albeit good, but special requests were met with resistance and downright refusals. As the server put it, āThe chef doesnāt like to do these sorts of thingsā. What weād asked for, god-for-bid, was that the calamari salad be stripped of its leafy goodness and served family style as an appetizer. We were told that they were short of calamari in the kitchen and could not accommodate. I feel bad for the dinner rush , which will surely be disappointed that they may be out of one of the menu items on the already small choice menu. At an āupscaleā restaurant , I am accustomed to receiving special request my way. In fact, I am used to that at Burger King where burgers donāt cost $15. (www.chowhound.c....ics/481623)

The setting of the film is in New York 's Queens. The film is basicallypresented in English with sparing subtitles where necessary. The moodof the story is suggested from the beginning shot trained on Bai Lingin a 'limo' to/from airport, as flashback memories unfold. Scenes maybe reminiscent of Wedding Banquet 1993 (director Ang Lee ), and a veryAudrey Hepburn looking (hair-do especially hugging) Bai Ling's leanface; also Eat a Bowl of Tea 1989 (director Wayne Wang ), and even Dinner Rush 2000 (director Bob Giraldi , also set in Queens), butPan's story/film holds its own. (www.imdb.com/title/tt0293146/)

I think Jimmy enjoyed it, I know he isn't much of a Rush fan, however, he said he has a renewed respect for them. We grabbed dinner afterwards and called it a night. Good thing I have today off from work. Now to keep an eye out for this show online. (brianpuccio.net....he_beatles)
