The color of the water is the result of at least 60 dolphins being bled to death in the shallow cove close to shore. The Japanese government allows the slaughter of approx. 20,000 dolphins a year in near-shore drives such as the one documented in Taiji. One of the photographers explains that tools used to stun dolphins included sonar, and says of the images: They really did represent very well what we'd seen with our own eyes that day. that color is 100% accurate. It was just as horrifying as it looks. It truly is the same most unnatural colour I have ever seen. It was one of the most deep crimson reds I had ever seen. and to realize that it came from a living organic being was shocking. It's not fashionable to discuss movie directors after Chaplin andbefore Welles, but surely something should be said about MichaelCurtiz, who not only directed this film but other great features like Captain Blood and Angels With Dirty Faces. For my money, his Adventures Of Robin Hood was every bit Casablanca 's equal, and heeven found time the same year he made Casablanca to make YankeeDoodle Dandy. When you watch a film like this, you aren't so muchaware of the director, but that's really a testament to Curtiz'sartistry. Casablanca is not only exceptionally well-paced butincredibly well-shot, every frame feeling well-thought-out andlegendary without distracting from the overall story. (us.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/)

A dashing swashbuckler both on and off stage, Errol Flynn made hisname in Hollywood with such movies as The Adventures of Robin Hood , The Sun Also Rises , and The Adventures of Don Juan . Born Leslie Thomas Flynnon the island of Tasmania on June 20, 1909, Flynn had an incurable case of wanderlust and continuing difficulties with the law. He started his career after meeting Australian producer Charles A. Chauvel, and his stardom occurred almost overnight after replacing Robert Donat in Captain Blood . The "Charming Rogue" continued his roguish life off screen as well, with a penchant for vodka, morphine, and young women. In 1942 he was acquitted of statutory rape charges which, rather than destroying his career, made him even more popular, especially with women. By the 1950's his wild lifestyle had taken its toll on Flynn's health, and finally caught up with him in 1959. Flynn died of a heart attackon October 14 of that year (news.lp.findlaw.com....fbi/flynn/)

That book generated a lot of heat, particularly from a certain brand of conservative Southerner who felt I was defaming the South. That just comes with the territory.
