Called Cadillac Ranch ,it is an arrangement of partly buried Cadillac cars. The about 10 Cadillacs arebig models with the distinctive tail fins of the 1960s. They are in a row andburied nose-down, with a little over half the bodies jutting out of the groundat a 45-degree angle. The formation of the Cadillacs nose down in the flat landsuggests a flock of pelicans diving into a calm sea after fish. Local millionaire Stanley Marsh 3 has funded many public art projects in the city including the Cadillac Ranch , located west of Amarillo on Interstate 40 , a monument of painted Cadillac automobiles that were dug into the ground head first. Marsh also participates an ongoing art project called the Dynamite Museum, which consist of thousands of mock traffic signs . Recently, I spent three interesting hours at this fine downtown museum. I enjoyed its external and internal architecture. I saw numerous fascinating creations. When I visited,I enjoyed the creations of Los Carpinteros, Ant Farm("Cadillac Ranch "), Eric Brass, and Luensman. This is not a traditional art museum-no Rembrandts, no Monets, and no Botticellis.
