Took the whole family including a 10 and 13 year old, rented a cabin on the lake, had a fabulous time, and a real "cultural" experience. The batak people on the island are Christian and very friendly. more (www.tripadvisor.com....matra.html)

We'll be in Chicago in August visiting family, and are interested in spending a few days in the land of 10,000 lakes in a cabin that allows dogs. Would want to travel about a day's drive (9-12 hours) from Chicago (www.tripadvisor.com....esota.html)

We loved it! And the best part is that it is just 1.5 mi. from Lake Louise and less than a mile from the village of Lake Louise. We highly recommend this cozy and charming complex. They also have suites in two story buildings with patios, but we liked the private little cabin (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)

The resort is a beautiful place. We where there in quiet season, a peacfull place to be.We stayed in a cabin, just up form the shore of lake Tahoe. The cabin was very comfortable & homely. The bathroom & living areas where clean, unfortunatly the kitchen was not so clean. We had to wash the pots & pans before. more (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

In the end we bought wine in the supermarket in Lake Louise and drank it on the balcony of our cabin. We would defintely go back to Moraine Lake Lodge for a special holiday in a few years time (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)

I have stayed at Convict Lake Resort about every other year for about six years. Sometimes in the campsite adjacent to the Resort, sometimes in the cabins. If the party who stayed at the Kamloop cabin had checked the Convict Lake website (which has been updated with the exact specifications of each cabin), they would have had the information regarding. mor (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

We just completed a 2 week vacation in the Canadian Rockies. We started the trip with 5 nights at Baker Creek Chalets just outside Lake Louise. The setting was ideal. While only 10 miles south of Lake Louise, it was a world away from the Trans Canada highway, buses and crowds of tourists. It is an upscale and, therefore, pricey establishment, but worth every penny. The cabins are immaculate and with incredible amenities. Ours had wood fireplace, deck, gas grill and whirlpool bath. Decorations and small touches showed taste and perfectly matched the setting. Cabin faced the woods and although there are a dozen tightly sited cabins and 2 lodge buildings, we felt as if we were isolated. Excellent restaurant on site with talented chef (although he is leaving in the fall ). Attentive and friendly staff. Wood and metal sculptures of bears and elk adorn the property in woodsy settings. Adirondack chairs scattered for reading or napping near the creek or just soaking in the mountain scenery. Easy accessibility to Banff, Lake Louise, the ski area and scores of hikes (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)

James Presley was born in Yorkshire, England and came to America with his two brothers. They went to Richmond, Va., they lived a short while near Winchester, Va., and moved on to Russell County, Va. to the Forks of Indian Creek and built a cabin and cleared land. This is the beginning of our Presley family in southwest Virginia (www.geocities.com....esley.html)

I have just completed a 2 week vacation in the rockies with my wife and 15 year old son, staying in 5 log cabin resorts during our stay. Our 3 nights in Baker Creek was amongst our favourites (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)

Highly recommended. Judging from the comments in cabin logbook, there were nothing but extremely satisfied visitors and many coming back for repeat visits (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)

Overall, it is a good place to stay. I recommend it, but would not recommend cabin 12! Not fancy, not first class, but pretty familiar, clean and close (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

We had a sun deck on the side of our cabin and they provided a round table with an umbrella, a couple of chairs and a chais lounge. The BBQ was right next to the patio (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

Upon check-in, we were impressed with the beautiful front desk cabin, which was well-furnished and had a cute fireplace. Check-in was smooth and easy, we got a detailed map as to where our room was located, and parking directly outside our three-story building (the Pool Building, it's called) was easy. We stayed at a cabin called the Hood Chalet, the property is part of the Inn at Heavenly, managed by them. First of all when called and was quoted a price, I was sent a confirmation email that contained a different price. I asked, "Is this extra cost the deposit?" I was assured that it was a deposit "a deposit. mor (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

We never once did anything to the owners or their business that should have caused them to treat us the way they did. We were polite the entire time and kept their cabin completely clean we never even used the jacuzzi tub that we paid extra for to be in that cabi (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

My husband and I stayed at the lodge in Cabin #5-it was small but SO cozy and rustic! Wood burning fireplace, pine bed, exactly what you want while up in the mountains. It is within walking distance to stores, restaurants, etc. Would highly recommend (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

Owners were rude. I had to sign my life away checking in. We had cabin 2. It's a loft with 2 futons and a full bed. The room lacked a dresser and a cofffee table. We had to eat and drink on the floor. We spread out a sheet and used that as a table cloth. (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

We dont get a chance to take a vacation often so we didnt want a bad experience. We were very concern after reading the other reviews that we made a mistake but took a chance and were glad that we did.We had a wonderful time, very nice cabin, clean and a wonderful view. The cabins are not close to. mor (www.tripadvisor.com....essee.html)

Throughout our stay we did the following activities, all of which were organised by the hotel and were within a 3 minute walk of the front door: ice skating on Lake Louise and exploring the ice castle; a horse drawn sleigh ride around the lakeās perimeter; a 3-hour snow-shoeing guided trail at night which concluded in a genuine igloo; a 2-hour cross-country skiing lesson; and a guided tour of the hotel which explained its 100-year history from a small wooden cabin to the chateau we know today. There was a full itinerary of seasonal activities catering for all ages and levels of fitness. (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)

My wife and I stumbled onto the Moraine Lake Lodge online as we were planning our honeymoon. To be honest, I wasn't really sure what to expect of it. We booked their Romance in the Rockies package. Now put your frozen -bra and pillow-fight illusions aside. This fall tradition began about five years ago, when we didnāt even know it was going to be a tradition, just a generous invitation to a friendās family cabin in the woods with views of the lake, mountains, pink-valentine sunsets, and a woo-hooo witchy-woman moon glowing through the giant glass windows. Two small cabins were built atWashington Lake suitable for summer shelter of cement and other commoditiesthat must be kept dry. A larger cabin was provided at Trial Lake to permitlimited winter living with stocks of flour, bacon, beans, rice, sugar, powder ,etc. The powder mentioned here could mean either baking powder or dynamite, asboth were used. The dynamite was kept as a last-resort for clearing ice ortimber jams from spillways (www.clegghistory.org....istory.htm)

The History of Lake Clark National Park The name of Dick Proenneke, a pioneering homesteader, will forever be associated with Lake Clark National Park. Proenneke arrived in 1967, fell in love with the area&s rugged wilderness , eventually found some good land, and built a sturdy cabin from hand-felled logs. His Thoreau-like experiment in independent living inspired a memoir, One Man&s Wilderness : An Alaskan Odyssey , now considered a classic of Alaskan literature and a must-read for anyone contemplating a visit to this park (travel.howstuffworks.com....rk-ga2.htm)

Our stay was also at the very beginning of their season to be open each summer . We had a cabin that overlooked the lake. From the moment we drove up to the small lodge, we were blown away , all my worries were gone. The staff was amazingly warm and welcoming. The cabin we had was wonderfully clean and comfortable. It is designed to be rustic yet very upscale, which we found to be perfect . We didn't go there for a tv and a telephone, so it was wonderful (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)

We stayed at the 3 Pines for a mini b'day celebration in August and I should add that true to my star sign (Virgo :) I am an extremely picky person, but found 3 pines to be a delightful little cottage. There are several cabins to stay at Big Bear Lake which are not listed here and I didn't regret staying at 3 Pines at all. The price is great and the staff (Randy plus another) were very amiable. The fact that it was the only place that didn't have a two night min on a weekend and the comments on this site is what initially attracted us. The only downside to this cottage (we stayed in cabin 7) is that it could do with a new coat of paint, but aside from that you won't go wrong staying here at all. It's very small (canāt swing a cat in that shower!) but very comfortable and cozy. I have attached some pictures - ignore the date which were reset (www.tripadvisor.com....ornia.html)

I've been on and around man made lakes all my life and Smith Lake is the cleanest, clearest lake I've seen. We have had our cabin since '97 and still go down about 35 weekends each year. The only thing to be watchful of is that the water level will vary dramatically between spring and late fall (up to 15. mor (www.tripadvisor.com....abama.html)

Our most expensive accommodation whilst in Canada but still quite good for the area. We stayed in the Half Saddleback Suite and it had good facilities, not a full kitchen but we didn't expect it. It was in walking distance of the Lake but you needed a car to get into Lake Louise village. The site was beautifully kept and the staff were very helpful. Coffee and cakes were provided in the morning and you could take them back to your cabin. The area around Lake Louise is beautiful but very busy in summer , still much more pleasant than the over-commercial Banff (www.tripadvisor.com....berta.html)
