Rodriguez, currently in Cannes with Quentin Tarentino to punt the horror double-bill Grindhouse , will work with the 1968 film's original producer Dino De Laurentis to "introduce Barbarella to a new generation of moviegoers", as the latter explaine (www.theregister.co.uk....la_remake/)

De Laurentis proclaimed Barbarella "the ultimate science-fiction adventure heroine smart, strong and sexy", which begs the question why bother with a remake? For his part, Rodriguez reckoned there was something new to be injected into the heroine. He offered: "The possibilities are limitless. I love this iconic character and all that she represents. Rose McGowan will play Barbarella , apparently. [UPDATE: That link works now.] This would have been such awesome news before her face went all wonky. I mean, I57;m a diehard feminist, but I don57;t think you should be celebrated as a famous hottie if your face looks like that. Apparently she got messed up in an auto accident, which is sad, truly. But life is harsh, and Rose, you ain57;t no Jane Fonda . Time to learn to read, maybe go back to community college. (fandumb.wordpress.com....ella-gort/)

The Barbarella hat was oddly one of my favorite pieces that I saw in the museum. I thought it was so creative and I really liked the comment that someone left above about the hat giving another meaning to 60;hat hair.61; I did not think it was gross, i57;m not sure if I would have the courage to wear something that is this different but I thought the look and creativity was amazing. This piece really stuck out to me (blog.metmuseum.org....arbarella/)
