I also thought of one more thing that I forgot to mention and I think that it would help me get out of the lease: There is a shed in our backyard and whoever lived in the house before us left a bunch of meat in a deep freezer. The freezer is full of maggots now and we can't even go into the shed. When we first moved in, the landlord told us that she was going to get someone to take the freezer away. I even went and talked to her specifically about the freezer full of maggots and she said that she would have it done over christmas (i moved in on Aug. 1). She still has not done that and we still have a shed full of maggots. Does that violate some sort of sanitary conditions code? I know that the tenant has the right to go on all areas of the property and the landlord is supposed to make sure that all areas of the property are usable by the tenant .
