Maria meets Freder Fredersen (Gustav Fröhlich), the son of the Lord of Metropolis Johhan Fredersen (Alfred Abel ), in a meeting of the workers, and they fall in love for each other. Meanwhile, Johhan decides that the workers are no longer necessary for Metropolis , and uses a robot pretending to be Maria to promote a revolution of the working class and eliminate them. 52;Claudio Carvalho, Brazil Ironically, while Hamilton's dreams of industrialization must surely exceed Hamilton's expectations, it is there, I suspect , that in the midst of Bush's assaults upon the rule of law, due process, and presumptions of innocence , that Democracy seems most alive. It is no accident that Bushco pulled off a most un-democratic coup d'etat in Florida. Go figure! (existentialistcowboy.blogspot.com....chive.html)
In the future, the society of Metropolis is divided in two socialclasses: the workers, who live in the underground below the machineslevel, and the dominant classes that lives in the surface. The workersare controlled by their leader Maria (Brigitte Helm ), who wants to finda mediator between the upper class lords and the workers, since shebelieves that a heart would be necessary between brains and muscles.Maria meets Freder Fredersen (Gustav Fröhlich), the son of the Lord ofMetropolis Johhan Fredersen (Alfred Abel ), in a meeting of the workers, and they fall in love for each other. Meanwhile, Johhan decides thatthe workers are no longer necessary for Metropolis , and uses a robotpretending to be Maria to promote a revolution of the working class andeliminate them. Founded 1890 by Alfred William and George Henry Robinson, sons of Henry Robinson , builder and architect. Cubbon Bibliography vol II p1174/5) gives a short history: Alfred having served an apprenticeship at the Manx Sun became foreman whilst his brother , Henry had served an apprenticeship with Abel Lewis. According to Cubbon they hoped to develop the photomechanical side of the publishing business concentrating it seems on the sporting press 'Robinsons Sporting Tissue' in 1892 and in 1896 'The Isle of Man Sporting News and Manx Tissue'. However they failed to make it a commercial success though the printing business continued under two of Alfred's sons. (www.isle-of-man.com....pgrhrs.htm)

Most common artificial explosives are chemical explosives, usually involving a rapid and violent oxidation reaction that produces large amounts of hot gas. Gunpowder was the first explosive to be discovered and put to use. Other notable early developments in chemical explosive technology were Abel's invention of nitrocellulose guncotton in 1865 and Alfred Nobel 's invention of dynamite (stabilized nitroglycerin ). See the article on explosive material for more detail on chemical explosives. A new order of explosive, the nuclear bomb , was invented in 1945 by the United States military. In 1950 , the US military developed the first fusion bomb . (www.fact-index.com....osion.html)

( b London , bap. 28 May 1710; d there, 5 March 1778). English composer. Son of an upholsterer, he was probably encouraged in his musical career by his violin teacher Michael Festing. In 1732-3 he and his sister Susanna (later Mrs Cibber) were associated with musicians, including Henry Carey and J.F. Lampe, who aimed to establish an Italian-style English opera. After the success of his masque Dido and Aeneas (1734), Arne was engaged at Drury Lane Theatre, where he was to produce his works until 1775. In 1737 he married the singer Cecilia Young, who appeared in his next production, Comus (1738); influenced by Handel's Acis and Galatea , it was his most individual and successful work. Also popular was the masque Alfred (1740) (including âRule, Britanniaâ). While in Dublin in 1742-4 Arne produced his oratorio The Death of Abel (1744) and music by Handel. His dialogue Colin and Phoebe established him as a leading composer at the London pleasure gardens; during the next 20 years he published annual song collections (www.answers.com....homas-arne)
