Definition: A hormone that is released in response to physical, mental or emotional stresses or fear. When adrenaline is released, the body responds by raising the blood pressure and quickening the heartbeat and breathing. Glucose (glycogen) from the liver and fatty acids are released to provide quick energy. Adrenaline is a catecholamine. (metabolicsyndrome.about.com....naline.htm)

Examples: She jumped out from behind the wall and scared me. I can tell adrenaline was released because my heart was racing and I was breathing very fast. (metabolicsyndrome.about.com....naline.htm)

There's no adrenaline rush knowing you have something that's going to get you to the ground safely. Why don't they play Russian Roulette with a bunch of real chutes and a "dummy" one. I can bet the rush would be much greater the (blog.washingtonpost.com....aline.html)

A boat pulled up to Loughlin, and she high-fived her rescuers as they pulled her aboard. She beamed and waved at other jumpers falling above her, even if they were strangers . Loughlin was soaked in cold water, but she hardly noticed. She felt numb with adrenaline . As the boat turned to deposit her on shore, Loughlin looked back up at the bridge and wondered: How long until I jump again (blog.washingtonpost.com....aline.html)

I am not an adrenaline junkie, nor am I crazy. I am a middle-aged widow with a desk job who loves life and enjoys the adventure of participating in a variety of sports (whitewater kayaking, canyoneering, caving, scuba diving) that have allowed me to see and experience the natural world in a way that I couldn't without the skills I've worked to develop. I also enjoy the cameraderie of my fellow adventurers who understand and appreciate the same things because they have been there too. I know that many people, even some of my friends and family , don't understand why I do what I do (or, for that matter, why I don't have a TV). That's okay with me. I often don't understand them either but that doesn't mean we can't get alon (blog.washingtonpost.com....aline.html)

We have carefully designed the best adventure activities and cultural tours in each region so challenge yourself on a Global Adrenaline excursion and have the experience of a lifetime. (www.globaladrenaline.com/)

Global Adrenaline makes every effort on each expedition to help the local populations where we guide. This means hiring local guides, using local suppliers and making sure that they are given fair pay for their services. All too often the tourist dollars never make it to the local government and most stay with the national level government through money flows to government owned travel agencies. By channeling as much of the money as possible to local governments and communities, the local people are given alternatives to logging out their forests, selling off mining rights in their rivers, or poaching endangered animals like the snow leopard. Tourism becomes a viable option to natural resource exploitation, leaving something wild for future generations to enjoy. Where possible, Global Adrenaline will also contribute to community welfare through partnerships with local agencies in developing health, education or environment programs. Should you climb a peak, raft a river or trek with a Global Adrenaline guide you can be sure you are being guided by an experienced professional. Travel with us and let our guides help you combine learning and adventure into one amazing vacation (www.globaladrenaline.com/)

We Focus on Adventures and Cultural Interactions: Our trips are designed with adventure seekers in mind, embracing adventure, adrenaline and activity while at the Masai child. (Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania) same time encouraging interactions with local communitie (www.globaladrenaline.com/)

Woman vs. Polar Bear Adrenaline doesn't just help people lift cars from children. In Ivujivik, Quebec , in 2006, Lydia Angyiou wrestled a large polar bear that she saw advancing toward her son and another boy while they played hockey . Angyiou tackled the polar bear and fought it while the boys ran for help. While Angyiou suffered some wounds, the polar bear ultimately lost the fight . Angyiou sparred with it long enough that a neighbor was able to shoot the bear four times until it died. (health.howstuffworks.com....rength.htm)

Canyoning is illegal in the United States, and is probably the most fun I have ever had. Your guides will take you into a canyon that has been carved out by a river. You make your way into it at the top, and make your way down to the base. In order to get down, you must jump off of cliffs, waterfalls, etc into a rushing river below. It is a fantastic adrenaline rush, and is worth every penny (www.tripadvisor.com....laken.html)
