Delving into a world once shrouded in complete mystery and impenetrable security, this investigative report provides a fascinating account of the annual meetings of the world57;s most powerful people52;the Bilderberg Group. Since its inception in 1954 at the Bilderberg Hotel in the small Dutch town of Oosterbeek , the Bilderberg Group has been comprised of European prime ministers, American presidents, and the wealthiest CEOs of the world, all coming together to discuss the economic and political future of humanity. The press has never been allowed to attend, nor have statements ever been released on the attendees' conclusions or discussions, which have ramifications on the citizens of the world. Using methods that resemble the spy tactics of the Cold War52;and in several instances putting his own life on the line52;the author did what no one else has managed to achieve: he learned what was being said behind the closed doors of the opulent hotels and has made it available to the public for the first tim (www.powells.com....77795345-0)

Tuesday, very early in the morning I started which is at 4:00-4:45 for the 50 km. (DoI really like to do that on my holidays?). The first day we walk across the Waal-bridge(well known for fights in 1944) to Arnhem and Elst. In 1994 I also did Nijmegen . This timeI am more in front of the crowds and I can look around and see the countryside. Peoplealways say that the countryside near Nijmegen is no good at all. It is the music, thebands playing, the people clapping and cheering that makes this walk. In fact the Nijmegenwalk is almost the only walk in the Netherlands that makes people enthousiastic. The otherwalk is the Airborne -march in Oosterbeek , first Saturday in September , to commemorate theoperation Market Garden, 1944 to libeate Arnhem and northern Netherland (walking.about.com....080397.htm)

Now we are ready for the real thing. Wecross the river Rhine and walk near Doorwerth to Renkum. Only two weeks ago these roadswere crowded with 30.000 or so walkers on the Airborne March of Oosterbeek , to commemorateoperation Market Garden to liberate the north of the Netherlands , an attempt that sotragically failed, September 1944. A bus with veterans on a battle tour passes. (walking.about.com....el1097.htm)

Have to say I was very impressed with the Rijnhotel easy to find (on main road from Oosterbeek as I drove in from Schiopol). Despite being on a main road, all bedrooms are to the River side of the hotel, and are very quiet.Rooms further along towards Arnhem town centre and on higher floors have a better view. more (www.tripadvisor.com....rland.html)

Large clean modern hotel and sporting and conference centre on a large rural site on the outskirts of Oosterbeek . We booked in advance for three nights at a reasonable price and the stay turned out to be above expectation. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The decor throughout was modern and well done. The rooms were not large but perfectly adequate. more (www.tripadvisor.com....rland.html)

The battlefields of Arnhem and Oosterbeek in the Netherlands never looked so good as they do in Pink and Teal. The battles were part of Operation Market Garden. It was here that the famous 60;First Airborne Divison61; consisting of more then 8000 men, under the command of Major-General Urquhart, glided down to earth on the morning of Sunday September 17, 1944 (grainedit.com/)
