Carnival in Maastricht is a VERY big deal. If you are planning on going, go in costume, or you will be hassled (good naturedly, but it's still annoying). (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)

From the treaty a cur-rency union was created that set up narrow rangesrestricting the value of each countries currency. The Maastricht Treaty wasreplaced by the agreement to create the euro, which began to circulate Jan. 1,2002. (www.yourdictionary.com....cht-treaty)

If you know of any accommodations around Maastricht that are in the wrong place,or don't appear correctly on the area map, please e-mail us at mapsfeedback@tripadvisor.com . (www.tripadvisor.com....-Area.html)
I have traveled from Charleroi to Maastricht on many occasions. There is a bus outside Charleroi airport that will take you to the train station in Charleroi. From there you can catch a train to Maastricht (one leaves every hour) There is one change on this train in Liege with a very short delay. I think the total trip from Airport to Maastricht costs around 20 euro. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
We are attending a family wedding in Maastricht on April 12th. We need a good campsite near to Maastricht for our caravan. We hope to stay for 5 days. Can anyone suggest a site please? (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
We (my boyfriend and I) went for a weekend trip. During our time of travel (Aug 2006), the weather was not as warm as expected for this time of year in The Netherlands . This trip was planned last minute and Maastricht proved to be a nice getaway place.TransportationAs we live in The Netherlands we drove to the city. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
This hotel is located on my favorite square in the old town in Maastricht . On a nice summer night, a coffee on the square is unbeatable. The Derlon is a nice, modern hotel in a historic building. The rooms are decorated in a minimalist style, but are very comfortable. The breakfast was nice, but not lavish. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Thanks for posting this as my daughter and her boyfriend were going to come out for this from Glasgow. As I am an auld foggie I though that it was near Amsterdam and they could stay with me but its way in the south of the Netherlands near Maastricht . (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Another alternative would be to fly Ryanair Glasgow Prestwick to Brussels Charleroi (35 pounds approx) and then to Brussels Midi (south) station with the coach. There is a direct train to Maastricht from there which takes an hour and a half. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I stayed at the Hotel Botticelli after reading reviews of it both here and on another user-reviewed website. We had a lovely stay, and found the hotel and location to be quiet and well-situated. Staff were very friendly, rooms were clean, and air-conditioning was welcome, as it was very warm in Maastricht , and we were in a room on the. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
We stayed for one night in November 2006 at the Kruisherenhotel in Maastricht , after my graduation ceremony. I have lived in Maastricht for four years, so I have seen the hotel being built into the wonderful place it is now.First the reservation. I have contacted the hotel directly to book a room. The people at the reservation deks were. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Our department of 15 people had our end-of-year meeting / teambuilding at Kruisherenhotel in Dec 06. Well located in Maastricht and full of history it was indeed a unique (meeting, dining and staying experience). The service was good throughout our stay and very accommodating given the size of our group especially at meal times. The meeting room and. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
It's a half hour walk into the centre of town, and a busstop is just around the corner. The bus will take you in 15 min. to the market in downtown Maastricht . (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I would consider renting a car, train tickets for 4 adults from A-dam to Maastricht will be expensive. Also, if you want to see WW2 history, Maastricht is close to the site of the Battle of the Bulge (in the Ardennes, which is beautiful) as well as the American cemetery in Henri-Chapelle (also BE). (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
My sister and I are traveling to Maastricht the last week of February and we seem to be having trouble finding centre city accommodations, they are mostly all booked. Is there some special event that week? I'd hate to bypass Maastricht on our trip.any suggestion? (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
We had a great time in a very pleasent athmostphere. Nice bar, good restaurant , wonderfull people!Next time we visit Maastricht we will come to this hotel again! (www.tripadvisor.ie....mburg.html)
This is our first time in Maastricht and had a hard time looking for the hotel but a service station guy was helpful in locating this hotel. The way to find the hotel is to look for their Bird Logo on the side of their building. It is a must to have your own car. We got a very spacious. (www.tripadvisor.ie....mburg.html)
I will be coming to Maastricht in Septmeber for a year to do my MA course but I have difficulties finding some accomodation. Does anyone know about some website where I could instantly see the offers? Any kind of advise will be much appreciated. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
It is situated near the A2 highway, but is not so close to the city centre of Maastricht . You can take the bus, or your car to the centre as a walk would take to much time. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I had an overnight stay at the Crowne Plaza whilst on business in maastricht . The hotel is situated in the heart of the town and was perfect for my requirements. The staff were friendly, and the hotel was spotless. The room I was booked into had everything one could possibly need to make the stay perfectly comefortable.I would happily. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
There are tons of B Bs around Maastricht , but I have to tell you that your budget is pretty low. I know of a few nice places, but I'm not sure that they are mentioned in the hotel review section or not: (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I have to disagree with the comments above. The statement that Restaurants in Maastricht are mediocer is insulting, imho! Maastricht is famous for his good dining, restaurants and bistro's, and is respected as such in all of The Netherlands and beyond! (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
There are over 42! restaurants which are mentioned in the IENS catalogue. Maastricht is in 3e place, right behind Amsterdam Rotterdam , which have 10 times more inhabitants. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I am really curious about your restaurants, Leo. Can you tell me where to dine in Maastricht that doesn't cost a fortune, has decent service and very good food? (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
This is one of the nicer restaurants in Maastricht , and the quality of the food is superb. The service wasn't that bad either. However, the whole experience cost us 350+ euros, for 2 la carte dinners (3 courses) and one bottle of wine. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I just had the nicest meal of my life at a 3 star Michelin resto in Brugge and the cost for 4 of us was about 450 euros. The food/quality ratio in the nice restaurants in Maastricht just simply doesn't compare. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
We often eat out in Liege, not because the food is better, but because of the special ambiance, and we have friends who live there, which btw, often eat out in Maastricht . Liege has hidden gems, i have to agree, but you'll have to know where they are, because from the outside they all look kind of shaggy . (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Exactly my point, Leo. The only place that you've mentioned that can perhaps provide you dinner in Maastricht for under 50 euros is an Indonesian (Satay is Indonesian) place! I don't like to exceed 100 euros for dinner, but in Maastricht , it is inevitable if you want decent food. This is the point of my previous post. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
IF Jota agrees with my comment, she can always mail me, and i'll publish my fav. restaurants/bistro's in Maastricht . If not, she can go to the ones you've published. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I knew that you wouldn't be able to answer my challenge, Leo. The phrases, "Good food for dinner", "Maastricht " and "Under 50 euros", simply don't go together. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
What the h.ll are you doing in Maastricht anyway? I wouldn't stay in a frikandel-city when i was a cosmogirl in her twenty's, and payed 100 Euro's or more for meal.I would move to Paris, Florence or Bratislava . (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Look, I've taken my friends and family out to restaurants of all sorts in Maastricht and EVERYONE has been disappointed. These people come from all over Europe , the Americas and Asia. These are the SAME types of people who visit these forums. They are not Maastricht locals like you who are used to the medocrity of Dutch food! (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I'm just trying to help the people who come here to avoid the bad food in Maastricht . And, as I've said before, it's not all of the food in Maastricht , go for the Indonesian and other ethnic places! (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Stayed here for five nights in mid February. The hotel is not central to Maastricht but is convenient for the Exhibition and Conference Centre. The hotel makes up for its location by providing a shuttle service to the town centre and the conference facilities. The shuttle does have a timetable but we found that they will in fact take you. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Hi, I will be in Maastricht in September 2008 for a meeting, and would like to travel around in NL and/or other neighbor countries after the meeting. I am planning to fly to either Brussels or Amsterdam , from where I'll take a train to Maastricht . (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
2. Are there direct trains from either or both of the cities (i.e. Amsterdam and Brussels ) to Maastricht ? Or do I need to change the train somewhere on the way? From which city (or airport) is it easier for this trip by train? (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
3. I will have probably 4-5 days to travel after the meeting. Any suggestions about where and what to see and to go within these limited days? I will probably get to see Maastricht before the meeting and some evenings during the meeting days. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
Maastricht right now is showing everything from Renoir to Medieval metalwork, from Warhol to illuminated manuscripts. The juxtapositions are both jarring and refreshing. Those pink tulips keep pulling it all gently together. (www.cnn.com....aastricht/)
And the latest word from Maastricht is that Littleton Hennessy Asian Art Ltd. of London and New York has sold the Chinese bronze tapir from the Warring States era (around the fourth century B.C.), to a private Chinese collector. The dealer has declined to name the price paid, but going in the ask was $12.6 million. (www.cnn.com....aastricht/)
I just got back from an early September stay in Maastricht for a business conference at the MECC. While the Golden Tulip is not as close to the MECC as I would have liked, it is still a decent hotel. It is very contemporary and the rooms are large relative to other European standards. It is a short 5-10 minute taxi ride to the MECC and you can get flat fare cards (9.75 euros one way) from the front desk. Hotel restaurant is more an american diner, but was pretty good the few times I ate there. It was pricey though as the breakfast buffett was 18 euros. Overall not a bad place to stay and I would stay here again if I couldn't get into the NH Maastricht which is collocated with the MECC. (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I have this need for a person to drive me from Maastricht to a town in Belgium about 45 minutes away, for the first week in May. Rather than hire a cabbie which would be expensive perhaps some of the locals have any friends in that city who would be willing to drive me. I would pay well for their time and expense. THe thing is the bus is sporadic on Saturday night actually non existent so I would have to take a train first to Liege wait etc. (www.tripadvisor.com....lland.html)

We travel to the Maastricht area often and usually stay at the Poshoorn, and sometimes at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza (which is very nice, right on the River Maas). This time we stayed at the Pauwenhof near the Markt and had a wonderful time there. It is in an old building, 15 rooms, on a cobblestone street, very good. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
We are flying into Brussels and renting a car for 2 weeks. We plan to go directly to Maastricht to set up our daughter who will be living in Maastrict at Guesthouse for University. We'd like to stay close to University for 3-4 days. Also, where do we start looking for used bike? (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I've wanted to stay here ever since I found Maastricht but the hotel was always booked. Got my chance in December for the Christmas market and wasn't disappointed.Great location, cool elevator and the breakfast buffet was ample. My husband, daughter and I booked an apartment at this property. It is ideally situated a few minutes from the main market square and a short walk from the best dining, shopping and sightseeing in Maastricht . The staff was extremely courteous and professional. They also have regular hotel rooms, which I did not see. The apartment was clean, up-to-date, well-appointed. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)

my husband was in Maastricht for a conference so i joined him and we stayed on for the week end.The hotel has been recently refurbished so it looks really nice inside (lobby, breakfast room, bar & restaurant ) but the rooms were a bit bare, although all the furniture was new the carpet was a very depressing black, the bathroom. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
I have stayed in many places around the world, and this is easily the worst accommodation I have had. Our rooms were booked by the conference and neither the Maastricht Booking service nor the hotel fessed up to the fact that standard rooms at this hotel mean no air conditioning, also no cross vent. (there is some very small print. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
The caves were wonderful. I took the boat from Maastricht , I assumed it was a longer ride, but just outside the town, they dropped us off. You walk up the hill to the cafe and wait nearby for the tour to start. I speak no dutch, but everyone was very friendly and helpful. There were no english tours during my. more (www.tripadvisor.com....mburg.html)
KLM have flights to Amsterdam or you can go to Edinburgh and again take KLM or Easyjet to Amsterdam then the train to Maastricht which will take around 2hr 40 and cost 40 euros. You can also get a through ticket to Maastricht on KLM from Aberdeen (change in Schiphol ) but the cheapest I found this around the dates of the festival was 190 quid.
