I understand that I can&t name any specific example of somethingsimilar to what this movie portrays, but that&s not the point. If wehad idealistic impressions of those at the top, this movie tears suchideas down. Certainly one that I encourage you to see. This was a disappointing film. Danny Aiello gives his usual fineperformance, but the script foundered in a sea of Mafia clichés, lamesub-Tarantino dialogue, rambling and unnecessary voiceovers, and sophomoricspeculations about religion (us.imdb.com/title/tt0119028/)

@ dado Oy with the Hoboken celebs. And Danny Aiello is like dogshit, he's everywhere in Hoboken, but that still doesn't make it Tribeca West, no matter the realtors say (gawker.com....303721.php)

Danny Aiello is a genuine actor, and his best work is in his littleindie films like this. He plays a used carsalesman named Al, who is lost ina routine life. Cher is a widow who marries a nice-but-boring man Danny Aiello - that is, until she meets his wildly passionate, moody brother Nicolas Cage ). How nice it is to remember the 'National Treasure -hunting Cage as a brooding bad boy - and a surprisingly seductive one at that. (movies.aol.com....nce-movies)

Brooklyn Lobster , an independent film about a Sheepshead Bay lobster man and his family by New York filmmaker Kevin Jordan, opens today in New York City. The film is a family drama featuring powerhouse performances by Danny Aiello and Jane Curtin . The story is based on Jordan's own family - his grandfather was known as "the lobster king of New York " and his family has run Jordan's Lobster Dock in Sheepshead Bay for many years. A lmost everyone in Hoboken is lining up to run for mayor in 2009. It has gotten to the point that I half expect actor and restaurateur Danny Aiello to pop up as a mayoral wannabe (www.nj.com....l/insider/)

Biography: An Italian-American character actor with a beefy physique, no-nonsense expression, and intimidating presence, "Danny Aiello " came to acting late in life, having been a bus driver , a transport labor official, a night-club bouncer, and (he claims) an occasional thief. He began performing at an improvisational night spot. As he was approaching middle age, he appeared in a regional theater production of "Jason Miller"'s "That Championship Season", for which he won a Most Outstanding Newcomer award. Aiello made his screen debut in "Bang the Drum Slowly" (1973), and he went on over the next 15 years to play a succession of tough guys, cops, brutes, slobs, and "ordinary guys" in a wide variety of movies, but broke out of that mold when he portrayed "Cher"'s fiancée in "Moonstruck " (1987). For his portrayal of a pizza parlor owner in "Spike Lee "'s "Do the Right Thing " two years later, Aiello received a Best. Full Biography (entertainment.msn.com....px?c=28292)

Lee's ambitious approach is intensely democratic. His mosaic storytelling impulse , aided by his talent and ability at choosing singular actors, feels like what America is supposed to feel like. The citizens of his cities are not faceless , nameless representatives of the masses. They are unique individuals with personalities and quirks. That is why Lee's oeuvre sticks with the viewer in specific scenes rather than story arcs, moments such as Danny Aiello 's bittersweet courting of the radiant Joie Lee in "Do the Right Thing ," or Samuel L. Jackson and Halle Berry 's memorable performances as crackheads in "Jungle Fever." This individualist collectivism is mirrored in his process, epitomized by the loving production credit on his movies, "A Spike Lee Joint," which means everything from operating independently to hiring your dad to write the musical scor (www.salon.com....06/30/sam/)

By coincidence I saw Once Around few years ago. The next day I went to theshop and bought myself a copy. Since then I've watched this film whenever Ifeel my own life is in a mess. I don't know why, but every time I watchOnce Around I'm assured in the knowledge that it is un-important how unlikeor disagreeing family members are, no argument can tear them apart. (Thismight of course not always be the case but a nice thought anyway). OnceAround is about the Bella Family. The head of the family Joe Bella, wonderfully played by Danny Aiello , is about to retire. His two daughtersare at the age of leaving home and/or getting married. Something his sonhas already done. After Jan Bella (Laura San Giacoma) is married, hersister, Renata (Holly Hunter ), asks her boyfriend to marry her. To hersurprise and irritation he is not willing, nor ever planning on, gettingmarried to her. Renata is forced to re-evaluate her life, and takes up ajob selling apartments. There she meets larger-then-life character SamSharpe (Richard Dreyfuss ), and falls in love with hi (www.imdb.com/title/tt0102590/)

It&s hard to decide what to say about this one. It isn&t totally, onehundred percent bad. Although the movie-in-a-movie is unspeakably bad, meant to be campy, but missing by a mile. I&m pretty sure that this isintentional, however. Danny Aiello is perfectly adequate here, and moreor less nails his pathetic character. Dyan Cannon was good in a smallrole. Clotilde Courau was impressive as the latest twenty-somethinggirlfriend. And Linda Carlson had a brave topless scene that she pulledoff very wel (us.imdb.com/title/tt0107824/)

In The Weeds is a mediocre ensemble dramady repartee-fest about thestaff of a restaurant and their activities during one night's dinnerrush. The film offers a solid journeyman cast of familiar faces butrelies too much on snappy patter and clever comebacks while trying tobuild a storyline that is marginal at best, groping for insight andsensitivity which never fully materializes. Nonetheless, there areseveral crisscrossing plot threads and enough energy and wit to make isa mildly entertaining broadcast watch. (C+) Note Those interested ina very good drama which also takes place in a restaurant during onenight's dinner rush should check out Dinner Rush with Danny Aiello (www.imdb.com/title/tt0210756/)

I was talked into renting this movie the other night at the video store bythe clerk and was pleased with the film. It is very much your typical mobfilm, but good acting all around really helps. Danny Aiello is backplayinga scheming mob personality with Tony Danza in an impressive performance asaguy stuck in a bad situation who fights back. The main plotline involvingthe exotic and beautiful lead actress playing Gabriella and Vincent Spano (of Alive and Indian Summer is a nice story but towards the end theplot becomes cheesy. The worst actor award goes to Rick Aiello who justgets really annoying about an hour into the film. I can't believe he wonanaward for it! But, overall it was an impressive little independent mobfilmthat is better than the latest Mario Puzzo TV mini-series starring KirstieAlle (www.imdb.com/title/tt0118782/)

Why? I dont know.I agree with another user's comments, that you have to be a Mayall fan tohave enjoyed this film.Jane Horrocks once again proves what an all-round entertainer she is. Notonly does she sing, but she also plays a convincing Bitch, and (in theflashbacks of the film) the Shy Mavis Davis before Stardom hitsin. But I feel I have to mention Clint. Clint the hitman is hilarious in themovie. He comes highly recommended to Mayall, but its later discoveredthisis his first ever hit.Danny Aiello is also at his best in the movie. The film is full of visualhumour too. Very good film (www.imdb.com/title/tt0118778/)

This is another attempt to make another Nashville . There's a humongousensemble cast of actors, some of the best on the planet, a couple of thebest who ever lived. The screenwriter doesn't connect it all very well, andlots of the characters seem superfluous or underdeveloped, unlike inNashville where even the characters who are only in a couple of scenes areas familiar to the viewer as a close friend. I would particularly havelikedthe Danny Aiello /Teri Garr section to have been removed. It falls prettyflat. The Sophia Loren /Marcello Mastrioanni section, the section that mostfilm buffs are going to be excited for, also plops by its end. And KimBasinger, a good actress, truly deserving her L.A. Confidential Oscar, isnot very good as the Southern U.S. reporter: her accent is difficult togetaround, and her character is often annoying, too. Sometimes, though, herpieces succeed (us.imdb.com/title/tt0110907/)

The tagline: Rule #1: Don't Trust Broads says it all! This not-too smart, not-too funny comedy, seen at the 2003American Film Market, is about a Russian mail-order bride whoreturns home with money stolen from her new American husband,a Mafia kingpin . The Family Don, played in his usual laid-backstyle by Danny Aiello , responds by dispatching his inept nephew(Robert Capelli, Jr. to retrieve the loot (us.imdb.com/title/tt0339607/)

The Plot A reformed cat burglar Bruce Willis , who also co-wrote) is blackmailed into stealing priceless Leonardo da Vinci artifacts. The heist flick features Willis and fellow thief Danny Aiello warbling ditties such as "Swingin' on the Star," which might explain this piece of dialogue: "I'll torture you so long, you'll think it's a career. I found this gem in the bargain bin at Wal Mart. How it got there, Idon't know. The film stars Danny Aiello (Do The Right Thing ), MikeMcGlone (The Brothers McMullen) and John Corbett (Sex and the City ).Set in the fast paced New York Italian restaurant Gigino , we follow arestaurant owner (Aiello) and his son, the head chef, on a busy Fridaynight. The film is comprised of witty banter from different tables inthe restaurant , following a uptight art critic, a mafiosi from Queens,a food critic and a real mystery man in Corbett's character. The staffhas to deal with a power outage, whiny tables and a line chef who isinto a bookie 35 grand. The film carries itself with panache everysecond, and no matter how often I see this picture, be it on DVD or onIFC, I just can't get enough. Check it out (us.imdb.com/title/tt0229340/)

Night Heat is one of the best TV Series Cop Shows for sure.A great Canadian cast and was shot at night entirely all overToronto,Ontario. I remember seeing the show being filmed all the time andfor us that live in Toronto , it was always fun to figure out where aboutsthe scenes were shot when watching.Jeff Wincott stole the show with his under rated acting. Too bad that hisbrother Michael Wincott has been alot more successful that him. ScottHylands, Sean McCann show there experiemce acting in the show as well.McCann is always great in whatever role he gets, also is a nice guy whenyourun into him on the streets of Toronto .The entire cast had great chemistry, one of those rare drama shows wheretheentire cast is talented. Too bad CBS scrapped thier CBS Late Nighttimeslot, but when they wanted in on the Late Night Talk Show circuit, well NightHeathad to be the sacrifice. Reruns are un up here in Canada I don't knowaboutin the USA. One great thing about the show was they always had good gueststars like Danny Aiello , and Hector Elizondo and they were great with theca (www.imdb.com/title/tt0088582/)

Robbie Benson has made a career out of over-acting and acting poorly. Inthis bad film I believe he also directs as well as stars in it. All of theacting in this film is bad. The characters are not sympathetic at all anditis just so stupid that I enjoyed it thoroughly! Danny Aiello as the mobboss, Tawny Kitaen as the girlfriend, the dude from TV commercials as thebest friend, the slick' drug dealer Butchie , it's all so terrible. Thisshould have a special spot on the cult classic shelf. (us.imdb.com/title/tt0098640/)
