- Several team members also attended the Dallas City Council meeting last night at Dallas Executive Airport, which focused on an agenda of enhancing southern Dallas . We'll analyze the blueprint the council presented later this week. For its part, the City Council has decided to take its meetings on the road once each quarter. The council's first stop will be at the Dallas Executive Airport on Wednesday. On the agenda: a briefing called "Realizing Potential: A Framework for Enhancing the Southern Portion of Dallas ." Nothing gets the north Dallas electorate more agitated than the prospect of raising taxes. Mayor Leppert campaigned on keeping taxes in line with the wishes of the Dallas electorate. Looks like the big-screen version of Dallas is being pushed further off the starting line, thanks to the just-announced pregnancy of director Gurinder Chadha . She tells the Associated Press in a story that just moved that she's expecting twins - "and plans to name them after Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, who recently announced their engagement," which is, uh, cool. I'm among those who do believe that we need a convention center hotel to remain competitive in the tourism/convention game. And I would love to have seen that sprout up more organically, without a cash infusion from our local government. The release, which could perhaps be mistaken for a message from the Belgrade or Baghdad city councils, continues, "This holiday season, Dallas residents are again reminded about the tragedies that can result by recklessly firing weapons into the air. Unfortunately, these celebratory bullets often come down on innocent men, women and children. Dallas Police remind residents that those who fire into the air will face jail time or major fines.
